My RR is at home in the garage. Jan 28th connected to trickle charger and went into sleep mode (two Weeks) Feb 11th. March 9th came out of sleep mode and is back on line. Truck has not been touched since Jan 28th. WTH
My 2020 Edge ST will sit all winter with trickle charger on it and never go into sleep mode. Looks like in 2020 there was not the two week requirement.
Weird! My 2019 Nautilus goes into Sleep Mode when it's on the maintenance charger.

It might have something to do with the battery disconnect installed for towing. Battery disconnect is not disconnected when in storage. Start stop is also deactivated completely with battery disconnect installed in connect or disconnect mode. Not a bad thing.

Are your drive cycles long enough to fully charge the battery? I would start by putting a charger on it for 24 hours (not a trickle charger but a good 6-10 amp charger) so you'll have a starting point. Could be that your battery hasn't been allowed to fully charge and if you are driving short distances and sitting a lot you are losing ground.
sorry for the newb question but what type of battery charger would be recommended for my 24 Ranger raptor 3.0?

Any modern charger that has an AGM profile (which is very close to a flooded lead acid profile) Are you looking to charge or just to maintain? I've found the the little NOCO 2D works great as a maintainer, I have one installed permanently in 3 vehicles and I keep them plugged in when not in use.

Seems to be some confusion about battery protection modes.
First if you don't drive it enough it will go into a battery saver mode (I saw it occasionally but never took a picture,) the app will show that, and won't show location, and it won't remote start etc - you have to start it in person. Our vehicles go into saver mode at 12.7 ish. NOT dead! Stupid!
If you don't drive it for a longer period or the voltage drops below 9.5 it will go into deep sleep, essentially total shutdown. Most of us will never see this. 9.5 is beyond stone dead...

Various stupid reasons for this....

We're retired and often don't drive enough to satisfy the computer even though the battery isn't actually that low. I put a maintenance charger on the RR and the wife's Escape. No more problems.

I used these, hard wired in based on all the Escape and 6g forum threads about this issue:

I suggest to purchase battery internal resistance measuring device that covers the capacity.
The dealer can't ignore if the resistance is higher, indicating degraded battery. Its a good investment anyway.

i hooked up the laptop and changed the setting on the battery charge system to 93 or 95% so the truck lets it actually charge the battery fully. i think it was set at something dumb like 80 or 85% from the factory.

mine always seemed to read 11.x when i turn the key to run just to see waht it says. now it says 12.x
Yes. This is what I did to using Forscan.

My truck is still rolling with no battery issues since I changed the settings. I split between my 18 mazda3 and the ranger so sometimes it sits for a few days.

would the maintainer one fully charge one that doesn’t get driven much…I’m thinking low battery may be causing my blind spot and cross traffic errors that sometimes go away after I’ve driven for 45mins or so…

thanks. I’m actually needing to maintain and put a full charge on mine as it sits for a couple weeeks at a time sometimes….im getting blisters/cross traffic fault after selecting a gear but did go away sometimes after I drive for an hour or so. But my short trips lately aren’t turning the lights off so I think in need a charger.

any suggestions for one that does both, also my truck is outside no garage so I wonder if they can be in weather?

This is just a BT battery monitor. I have a BT proxy running on an esp32 in my garage that translates it to MQTT to get into homeassistant. This is the unit I have.
