tire weight would be your best bet. look for the lightest tires that meet your requirements and you will see a difference.
i changed the michelin defenders on my 04 ranger to a heavier wheel, not purposely, and lost 3 mpg. i immediately put the defenders back on and sold those other tires off. i am all for the best gas mileage i can get in a vehicle, thats why i have a 2.3 ranger
