I would love to have this setup but $20k in just parts of the portals is just... A little too much only just to have 37" tires. Because you can do 35" without doing much at all. I'm just going to wait for Fox to come out with a 3.0 suspension for the RR and go from there to fit 37". The really nice part of the portals is the built in gear reduction and a true 4" lift.

I don’t think it’s silly. I think it’s awesome. This will have 4-ish additional inches of clearance than an F-150 Raptor. I bought my RR because it was all things that an F-150 Raptor was not - I.e. it’s short and narrow. I don’t do the most gnarly trails by any stretch, but I do get into some tight places where the trails have big rocks in other sections. A build like this would be the ultimate for that stuff, while an F-150 Raptor would have to turn around. This build may not be right for everyone, but it absolutely has a place. Keep us posted @1stRangerRaptor
Well, it was narrower.

Yeah won’t be narrower anymore. I wish the tires stayed under the fenders. Never been a fan of the poke look. But not many other solutions to retain the Fox and Ford geometry and integration.

It is just about ready to come home. I felt like the fenders lines in the rear didn’t really look right with the 37’s. So my guys took some material out of the rear portion of the rears. I think it looks much better now. You can kind of see in the pictures how it flows a little bit better.

I have some better built dedicated crawlers and off road machines. But this truck will be great for the tighter spaces where my bigger rigs would just get destroyed with the overhanging branches.
Looks awesome man, thanks for sharing. I've taken the RR on some high alipine CO trails that there is no way I could have taken my full size raptor on. They have their different applications/pros/cons. Would love to see photos of your truck in action

Keep reading, I’m not the only one…

Why else would someone post what they were doing online if they weren’t desperate for other peoples opinions?
Some people post directly requesting opinions, many don't and showing what can be done, how it's done, or to see how it looks when done as information only.

By all means, you do you. We all love hearing about how we are doing it wrong because we aren't using our RR for pizza deliveries. Maybe next time you feel the impulse to give your opinion on a thread that didn't ask for it, you could maybe just keep scrolling to the next one instead 'socks n crocks'

Last I checked, and throughout the history of car enthusiast communities, it was always a forum for people who shared a passion and desire for understanding more about a common vehicle platform. In no way do I see sharing ways people modify their vehicles as a desperate need for feedback and opinions.

I figured there were some other people like me looking for ways to stuff more rubber under their trucks without sacrificing the ride quality or usability of the truck.
Still working out some kinks. Just little things but super happy with how it is turning out. Can’t wait for the aftermarket to release some kind of extended fenders to keep mud, rocks, snow and salt off the side of truck. 74 Weld has toyed with the idea but don’t have anything currently.
I don’t mind when other people don’t like my set up. Sometimes I don’t even like my own setup after I get done and I start fresh.
But I really like how this is shaping up so far.
I am anxious to get it out in the rocks and flex it up a little. But still waiting on Next Venture Motorsports to release their skids with UhMW before it gets too friendly with the rocks. I have there skids and underbelly on my Bronco Raptor and it works really well.

Put the first 200 miles on the new portals. Mainly freeway driving did well over 90 mph and they worked great. The gearing definitely makes it more peppy around town. The 37’s spin effortlessly on dry pavement when turning.
At speed in the freeway it drives great. Tracks well and likes to go in a straight line. The tires are now set up as bead locks and they only took a few ounces to balance.
74Weld asks for changing the oil after the first 150 miles and replacing it with new oil. The oil came out pretty milky but too much shavings when shining a light through it. There is a very slight but noticeable whirring noise at about 10-15 mph but nothing when going faster.
Now that they are broken in I plan to get them out in the desert and see how they perform in the rough stuff. This rig will be used as a daily for my son but also to tow and recover my buggy should it get into a tight spot or somehow on its lid.

I was finally able to get the rig out in the wild. Drove it up a really gnarly climb into some challenging terrain in Low range. It did amazingly well. Low Range now is super low range. On some hard compressions with the wheel turned I could get a little bit of plastic contact. But it was very minimal.

Sorry no good photos or video. I know its like it didn't happen if I didn't document it. I will get it out again with the drone and get some footage of it making light work of some pretty good advanced terrain. It has passed my test so far both on and off road with the new portals, 37's and upgraded steering. The trail I went on today it not have been possible in stock form without significant body damage.

I was able to get out to Little Moab and crawl it a little. It did so well. I would argue that it does just as well as my BRaptor. Maybe even a little better in a couple spots. This rig is way more capable with the Portals. Now we need to hit the real Moab.

Thanks for sharing. I had never heard of portals before a few months ago and I'm still learning. It's interesting to see what they allow as far as modifications.

I’m curious about the Hoss 3.0 programming. Did it retain the setting in the steering wheel? Anything special needed for this?
I am having mine installed in a week. per my conversations with 74 Weld, they have them pre-programmed so that the install is a "plug and play."
