Well, for starters, crazy exes….
Well those capless filler necks are designed to be tamper proof. It's why you need that special funnel to use a gas can.

That aside, how is a locking cap going to stop a crazy ex? You all act like the 'lock' on a gas cap is something a small screw driver couldn't pop open.

Tamper resistant** you can use 2 small screw drivers or your finger to depress the locks and open the flapper. at least on my old 2012 escape, and my roommates 2017 fusion

They made a locking cap thing that I had on my "capless" F150, but I haven't been able to find one for my Ranger.

Conveniently ignored that it's just as easy to pop the door open on a 'secure' looking filler door.

Pretty standard security feature. Makes it a little too easy for people to siphon gas or throw shit in there
[/QUOTE]

You do realize people just drill the tanks now?

Please explain this amazing security feature that can prevent someone from opening the filler door.
Must be some new indestructible plastic I've never heard of.

Take it off, put it somewhere else. It's a terrible design. My wife's 10 year old Edge Sport and my previous 13 year old F150 had designs actually integrated into the door, not something stuck on the door with glue.

Or, throw it in the garbage. I used my keyless pad maybe 5 times in 13 years. If you need to get in just unlock the Raptor with the phone app.

That's like saying there's no point to door locks because they can just smash your window. Some doors are made metal too...

No idea why youre arguing against it as if there's some downside to having the feature

it’s not easy to throw shit in or siphon With the ford easy fill system.

not impossible but like door locks or locking fuel doors it does offer a higher barrier to entry

Somewhat back on topic, I will say I use my keypad all the time. It's perfect for leaving your fob in the truck when doing outdoor activities (beach, hiking, biking, festivals, etc.). I even consider it a worst case scenario safety feature. If I had my fob on me and something happened to me while doing one of those outdoor activities, whomever else is with me would be stranded and unable to get help. If the fob is left in the truck, they can still get into the truck and go for help if needed.

Not particularly concerned with break-in theft as the fob is kept in RFID pouch and sufficiently hidden.

It's also a convenient way to get into the truck quickly when at home when I don't have my fob or phone on me.
