Does remote start via the app require either subscription? I assumed it required the premium connectivity but I don’t see it mentioned.

the FordPass app remote start feature on the 2025 Ford Ranger typically works without a paid connectivity subscription. The app, along with core remote features like start/stop, lock/unlock, and fuel level checks, is included for free as part of the vehicle's FordPass Connect services once the modem is activated.

I'd have to believe it also allows you to use remote start, etc. from the Ford app. They're not going to give you that stuff for free (I think)

It is free. I have had my '24 since Nov 24 and had a '21 for 3 1/2 years. Never paid for any 'connectivity' service and had no problems with any of the Ford Pass App feature, including remote or scheduled starts.

Don't waste your money. Everything can be done with Android Auto or Car Play, and they are better at it.
Yep. This. If you have a smart phone, you’ve got WAY MORE available through CarPlay/android auto. You’ll lose Alexa, but can use Siri or whatever digital assistant android uses, and you’ll lose the ford nav, but google/apple Maps will be better and always up to date through your connected device…
put your $8 a month or whatever in your gas tank and floor it!😂🤣

I do that daily anyway... LOL

An interesting aside. We hunt deer with hounds here in NW Florida and I find myself quite often needing to race around to another road on our deer lease. Our roads are mostly sand with about 10% of the driving being on sugar sand. My hunting buddies are continually impressed at how fast I can do this

For what it's worth, in my wife's 2022 Escape Titanium we did not pay after the free connectivity expired and the Nav still works, as well as the Ford app (remote start, location, door locks, etc.) With the nav you don't get "advanced" features but we never used them anyway...

We did notice that the Ford maps show more small roads than Google maps such as dirt roads and campground loops compared to using Google maps on my phone or tablet. Never tried to use android auto in her Escape. In my RRaptor the android auto nav maps are far more detailed than the Ford maps...

Disclaimer: I'm old and not terribly tech savvy on this stuff.

Not to sidetrack this thread, but I had my tablet out in the Raptor while getting to know it ( I've had it 2 weeks today) and made sure the truck's wifi hotspot was on, found it in my tablet, and it needed a wifi password to attach. How am I supposed to know what the password is?

You set it up yourself.

I don't know, I have alway renewed all the options. I use them occasionally as well as CarPlay. I do like having all the options available. They aren't that expensive.

If you wish to keep all the features of connected navigation without a subscription you can connect sync to your cell phone hot spot.

  • Alternative Connectivity: If you want to keep the "connected" experience without the Ford subscription, you can connect your vehicle's SYNC system to your phone's Wi-Fi hotspot or use Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which provide free, up-to-date navigation through your smartphone.

I hope my navigation does not go away.
I have a 2024 Ranger and a 2021 f-350 both still have navigation as of now.
Is my navigation supposed to expire at some point?
