The ProCal changes your 5 year/60,000 warranty to 3 year/36,000 miles. I added the Ford Premiumcare warranty right away (before the 12 month/12,000 mile warranty expires) so there were no issues trying to add it later with questions about performance mods.
After talking with all three Ford Warranty departments, Ford New Car, Ford Performance, and Ford Protect Extended Service I will probably skip Procal, and maybe consider for another tune. Procal is automatically flagged and VIN locked in OASIS as soon as it is loaded, no way to prevent or stop it. Once that happens your Ford New Car 3 yr/36000 mi and 5 yr/60000 mi Powertrain warranties are automatically replaced by in OASIS with the full powertrain coverage under the Ford Performance 3 yr /60,000 mi warranty, so in essence, to my understanding, we loose 2 yrs / 24,000 miles of our Ford Powertrain warranty. Now, Ford Protect also has a disclaimer about vehicles that have "aftermarket performance modifications" installed not being covered, and Ford Performance clearly states their products are considered aftermarket items, including the Performance Tune. I think they deliberately make this confusing. So, since I plan on keeping my Ranger a long time, I think I'll just avoid Procal unless Ford will get all three warranty departments together and give us a definitive "Yay or Nay" answer. The only definitive answer I got was that the warranty of anything non-powertrain related remained unaffected by the installation of the "aftermarket performance modifications".

Last I heard, people were installing it on 2026 Raptors, but its still not CARB-approved, so it won't install in Cali or any of the states that support CARB. So slightly less than half the states have restricted it. Last I looked that was:
  • New York
  • New Jersey
  • Massachusetts
  • Oregon
  • Washington
  • Colorado
  • Virginia
  • Maryland
  • Connecticut
  • Rhode Island
  • Maine
  • Vermont
  • Delaware
  • Minnesota
  • Nevada
  • New Mexico
  • Pennsylvania
  • Washington D.C.
Oh, and Cali of course. Not sure if anyone else has joined lately.
MDer here, and sure mine is a 2025, but the install was so easy that even I could do it, and I did. The instruction's included in the purchase are spot on, and shame on any Ford tech who can't install it.

They're all easy if can read the easy and clear to follow instructions. Its the ASE certified technician requirement in the written Ford Performance Warranty that says it must be installed by an ASE certified technician to keep the warranty intact.

Just to close this out, I went back to the dealer this morning and they were able to apply the tune. So yeah, very much seems they didn't really know what they were doing the first time!
