Which intercooler did you go with? Fenix? Dynomotive?
I purchased the Fenix unit. It had everything its needed to install, however, I believe the pipes are not needed, the stock ones should be just fine. It took me around 30 min to install the intercooler, and like 2-3 hours to install the pipes. Since the fenix intercooler has traditional pipe ends to connect it you cannot leave the stock pipes, you need to change them to theirs. Being all metal instead of plastic with the intake and the intercooler pipes I noticed some increase in the IAT during traffic and normal driving, so In ended up insulating everything. I doesn't look pretty, but the IAT now is the same as ambient temp in most cases, except if you are in a traffic jam. Take care,

I have noticed that the RR when tuned is very sensitive to fuel quality and high temps, so you have to take care of having a cold intake and good quality fuel with high octane, E30 o meth injection for it to work properly and be able to get the most gains possible. Otherwise you are going to have engine pinging and engine hesitation during hard acceleration.

The next stage would be to change the turbos and probably injectors like the dynomotive guys did, but thats too much if you are going to keep the off road tire profile because it won't hook up to the pavement.

I bet you are right about it not hooking up... lol

the traction control does a pretty good job while on 4A mode, but during hard cornering or braking you realize the tires are not up to the task of high speed highway driving, or race track for that matter. I think the best pavement traction ones are the continental tires, if ytou don't do harcore off road. Thats what Im gonna get when I change the BFG's

Hennessey Performance (Texas) was offering a similar comprehensive warrantee on their 500HP velociraptor 500 package (around $25K) for the Ranger Raptor, and I'm not sure if you buy it from them or leave your truck there for their "extensive testing". 200 pre-order units only for 2024. Their latest update was from May 2023. Some of their other inventory project cars in their gallery and for sale might be fun to take for a drive.
For some enthusiast, the value added for an upgrade like this could outweigh the cost. Raptor R power/to weight comparable in a more nimble package. They have a Raptor R upgrade to 1,000 Bhp.
Was going to ask them if they would sell the tune separately :) their Velociraptor looks nice but I don't want all the other stuff.

First time I hear about this. I have the exact same setup in transit and now you've put me into thoughts. Would you say the IAT was higher with plain metal fenix pipes compared to stock plastic ones?

Fortunately ther truck has a temp sensor on the air filter intake and another one in the throttle body, the temperature noticed that raised after the install is the intake one, since its metal it seems its prone to heat soaking, thats why I insulated it on the side the faces the engine.

The fenix intercooler makes a great job, much better temp reduction than the stock unit. What I ment by keeping the stock pipes is because they are not any thicker and you still keep the same throttle body diameter, and the stock pipes are similar in diameter, so no gains by changing the stock pipes for the metal ones from the fenix kit, I would have made the ends of the intercooler compatible with the stock pipes, it would have been a 20min job to install the intercooler.

Take care,

Thank you brother for the feedback. Looks like I'll be returning the twin pod filter to FF and just ask for their midpipe instead. Ill wait on S&B to bring out their abs airbox instead in a few months.

if you insulate the FF box before you install it you should be fine, its what I did and saw the improvement immediately, heatsoaking reduced considerably. I used DEI reflective sheets to do the job, scisors and a lot of patience.

Take care,

following up on this thread. I have the FP tune which claims similar numbers to JB4 with 91.

Am I missing something? I feel the FP tune isn't that great to be honest. I feel it is not very consistent. I am surprised JB4 with WMI wouldn't be better here.

how much whp did you get with the FP tune?, can you please post your dyno graph to compare?

please list any complementary mods you may have

No Dynos done, it's just based on claims and published dynos. I am interested in switching to JB4 + WMI but I am not sure if this will increase my power (or not).

I am just confused how FP tune with 91 octane gives you almost the same power as KB4 map 7 using WMI.

I sent a message to Berger Tuning Tech support and got a political response.

I don't know how much power of how the FP tune feels because I don't have it. What I can tell you is that my truck feels quite different han stock and on the road I have gone side by side with other lighter but quick cars without any issues up to the speed limiter. (I do not recommend to do this because the all terrain tires are not so good for high speed use).

The WMI helped in my case to ensure I could use a more agressive map and have no pinging because gas in MX altrough I buy 93 octane sometimes is not so good. I did not feel much power difference with WMI, only consistency.

Althrough its in theory the best option for my setup because its progressive, I do not run the WMI map, because it showed lower power than the other maps at the dyno, meth was setup to inject according to boost level, independently of which map you are in.

If I were you I would dynoe the truck with the FP tune, if you are already in the 400-420 whp range the JB4 is not going to make much difference. If interested in WMI you can add a generic WMI kit and set it up to spray at 8-10psi and above.

I hope the info helps.

OK great thanks for the advice. I think I will go dyno it sometime and get back to this thread, thanks

In my experience most flsh or piggy back tunes will give you similar power levels for their stage that uses all stock parts. Obviously flashing in a tune will gove you the possibility to make the vehicle feel better and maybe squeeze more power out of it, but the downside is that if it doesnt work properly you cannot disable it like you can with the piggy back.
