RR Spare tire question

Man, wish I would have seen this....before my trip.

I had to use a crescent wrench to lower mine, wasn't sure if the factory wheel would mount on the spare hangar. Glad to know it will. How does the truck recignize a 5th tire. Had the flat in bed all week and its driving me nuts.

I got a tire warranty through my dealer, and they are fighting me on giving me a load range E. From what I can tell the e is cheaper.

I will update tomorrow, allegedly i can cancel the warranty if I dont use it. Then go buy an e at freaking walmart and get a warranty. And hopefully not blow out the side. I hate the steely and I cant tell if its balanced or not, if it is balanced, I broke something lol.

I must admit, I've never seen a vehicle that came with TPMS in the spare.

My 2005 4runner Has it.

A little fuzzy on that. Not sure if it's automatic when the new wheel/sensor is in range or if it needs programmed. I need to rotate the tires here pretty soon so I should find out soon enough.

Let us know, I dont see how it will read with out calibrating the spare, but if it works that would be awesome.

My 2005 4runner Has it.

Yes My 2007 Tacoma has a TPMS in the spare. Also the TPMS system needs to be manually programmed for all 5 sensors. What a PIA. Toyota changed it a couple years later to an auto sensing system. I bypassed the tire pressure warning light and spent the $180 I would have on new TPMS sensors on a gauge and cheap compressor.

Is there a keyed locking plug for that access hole? My 2024 XLT just has the plastic plug in the access hole

You can order a keyed lock for the access port with Ford points for $65.

I have, and I think most manufacturers stopped doing it for the reason I'm about to mention - the low pressure light comes on and after checking all 4 wheels, there was no low tire. It's happened on my mom's old RAV4 (2009?) and my friends Odyssey (2011?), and both times it was the spare tire being low and shot after sitting 10+yrs unused. It's handy, but super frustrating for the average user who doesn't think about the spare except if they get a flat.

It was maintenance day today so I changed the oil and rotated the wheels and the new TPMS worked like a charm, I didn't have to do anything.

So to answer my original question = no, the spare tire does NOT come with a TPMS.

Got the spare swapped out and now I can rotate all the wheels without having to dismount/remount.

And here's the reason why the trailer plug was relocated for the Raptor
