I was looking at the tailgate of my '25 RR, and I wanted to see how much room was there with the panel removed. Picture is attached. I was thinking about 3 main options. 1. install a small lifepo4 battery back there. It would be strapped to the support brackets. Cords would run through the wire outlet and run up to the bed panel. That way I would have a power supply regardless of truck ignition. Looking at the space available a 12 volt 50 amp hour battery would more than likely be the only option, unless there is a very skinny 100ah bettery out there. You could attach two, one in each bay and run them in parallel or series, depending on needs. I was also looking at running the charging port wiring to the truck bed panel as well. 2. Similar to first, battery in one bay and bluetooth radio in second bay. Again, would have a bluetooth sound system with its own power supply. I already have the bluetooth radio. It's a pyle marine bluetooth system. Link is below. 3. Get the Ford bedliner for the tailgate only and cut into that to access the open bays. The tie rods to the locks would have to be repositioned to access the full space. That should be much of an issue. the bedliner for tailgate is, Liner Load Compartment - Ford (R1WZ-9900038-C). Hopefully, 3D printing some storage cubbies to insert into the cut outs. Although, I don't think many 3D printers have a print bed that large.
I also just really wanted the part that I unscrewed to be hinged. That way could access the unused bay so much easier. In my research I did run across this company. https://hfabusa.com/collections/ford/products/ford-ranger-tailgate-storage-usa-model-t9-2024-model. There product looks great, but I have to admit I don't know much about them.
Thoughts?
