Has anyone covered the Walmart Supertech 5W-30 if it’s working good on the Ranger 2.3Ltr?

also does anyone know if this is multigrade oil?

should all ecoboost engines not use this oil?

I’m about to buy a 2025 Ranger FX4 and wondering if this is a safe oil for every 4K mile oil changes along with their filter.

Why use an oil you’re uncertain about in a brand new truck? Mobil 1 and Pennzoil Platinum are frequently on sale for a few bucks more.

That said, if you’re doing 4,000 mile OCIs, pretty much any oil that meets Ford’s specs will be fine.

It does not state that it meets Ford's spec WSS-M2C971-A1 .

It just states the following:
  • API and ILSAC Standards: Meets API Specifications SP and ILSAC GF-6A or previous standards for quality assurance.
Compatible cars
Super Tech Full Synthetic Motor Oil is compatible with conventional engine oils. Meets or exceeds GM Dexos1 Gen2 specifications for world wide requirements for all GM automotive gasoline engines currently in use. Meets requirements for all gasoline automotive engines currently in use where a SAE 5W-30 that meets API Specifications SP and ILSAC GF-6A or previous standards are specified. Always check manufacturers’ recommendations for proper SAE grade and API classification. Dexos1 Gen2 supercedes GM 6094M and GM4718M.

Walmart in my area charges $70.00 for an oil change using Mobile 1 with a Ford oil filter. Can't go wrong using the best oil I can.

I just saw this yesterday and the Walmart Supertech has this on the rear label Ford spec- 5W-30(WSS-M2C961-A1) often listed as API SP or ILSAC GF-A6)

I think for as long as it’s 5W-30 the standards above your good, and for Ford to void warranty cause no one is using motorcraft is called total greed and manipulation.

Also called “illegal” for Ford to do that.

If your engine fails in that 4000 mile interval it wouldn't be due to SuperTech oil.
It’s because it’s a Ford. 😂

Not walmart, so not sure if this is helpful to you, but I use the Kirkland brand full synthetic from costco with DEXOS 1. It meets the specs and is affordable enough to make 4-5k intervals a no brainer.

I found the product data sheets on highline warren's website (they make the oil) at one point and downloaded them. Having trouble finding the link this time. I did find them on this website though.

20 Quarts for $70, online. I think it's $32.99 for 10 quarts if you get it in the store.

20k miles and the truck runs great. I also run a catch can and the blow by looks as expected for whatever that's worth.

Good to know. The product images I saw online didn't have that listed.

Other brands like Mobile 1 and Valvoline Advanced list the WSS sped.

The Walmart and the Costco are made by the same company they are spec for both Ford and GM to be compatible with their engines.

Ford spec- 5W-30(WSS-M2C961-A1) often listed as API SP or ILSAC GF-A6)

Ford spec -0w-20, commonly WSS-M2C962-A1, WSS-M2C947-B1, or the earlier WSS-M2C947-A,depending on the model and engine type. These oils must also be API Certified for gasoline engine service (ILSAC GF-6/API SPor earlier)

I use it in my wife’s 2023 Tahoe bc it meets the specs and so far so good.
In my Ranger I’m using Havoline synthetic blend from Walmart with motor craft filter. The Havoline comes in a 6qt box so it’s perfect for my 2.3 and meets Ford specs.
