I didnt like the way the silicone looked so I bought some 1" closed cell foam and cut it slightly larger and thicker than the stake pocket holes. Then put the caps back on. Seems to be working well. I also put black vinyl patches over the holes inside the bed.

I made some caps that press fit into the gaps. I would think some enterprising company could make a better cap.

and then I found water was coming in at the tail gate so I made some doohickeys that at lest reduce that and cover the sharp corner of the tonneau cover rail.

my thinking is if water does get under the rail, I want it to have someplace to get out.

I forget who posted it but you can search up some guy waterproofing his entire bed on this forum. For me w/those caps I just use a little silicone it goes a long way.

Holding up well. I still get a little water dripping down the inside of the bed that blows up under the bed caps when it rains. I would need to remove those caps and seal all the holes to eliminate that.

I ordered rubber plugs for all those little holes silicones them and plugged from under the lip inside the bed... Foam is coming today and after I install that I'm going to silicon those stake caps... Hopefully it works

U used 1 inch foam? Did u need to double up on it? How easy was it to install those and pop them in

Its about 3/4 to the top of the bed rail but it varies from front to back. I cut them slightly thicker and larger than the hole and worked them in.

I meant 3/4' gap between the plastic cap and the top of the metal bed.

Ahhh I see that on my truck. I'm waiting for my foam to show up. Is it easy to smush down in there since I got a 1 in size foam? Sorry for all the questions, it's just a really shitty design from Ford and it's pissing me off

I sliced it thinner with a fillet knife

That's exactly what I'm doing now. I'm slicing it half and I got one that's sticky on the other side and I'm also siliconing it so I guess I'll keep in touch and let you know how it went

My only worry with covering up the "swiss cheese" holes under the bed rail covers is that now you are not allowing the water to easily drain anyway. What if it causes rust under the plastic covers? I almost rather it just leak a tad on the outer edges of my bed and then drain out the front or back as I drive...
