Hey all!

recently noticed that there was a weird discoloration on the trim piece near the windshield wipers and windshield. I’ve had this truck less than a year, and it looks like sun damage? But I’m not sure..any insight would be appreciated!

It's a chemical reaction did you take it through a car wash lately. Mine does it too depending on what car wash soap I use. It goes away with just plain water.

I've seen similar issues to this fixed with a heat gun?

Or jeep guys put all kinds of stuff from peanut butter to back to black wipe on stuff.

Just something to put oil back on the plastic so its not dry. Mine will probably be that way soon since we are summer temps and sun from end of march till christmas here in south texas

Maybe it's windshield washer solvent. ArmourAll or WD-40 should take it away.

It does look sun or chemically bleached. No clue what caused it but Forever Black Truck Bed Liner Gel will fix it. Amazon has it on sale right now for $13 USD. Wear latex gloves, it's tough to wash it off.

I use this on all exterior plastic. Keeps it looking fresh

Does this keep your rubber seals from dry rotting as well ? I usually use Armor All but Im open to anything that could be potentially better.

Hey, Johnny 5.
Forever Black Gel is a black pigment that permanently dyes vinyl, plastic and rubber. It will make black trim look brand new and lasts forever but it makes no claim of preventing dry rot or conditioning rubber.

I posted the same thing last Summer. No car wash, hand washed with Meguiars soap only. My RR sat on the lot in Michigan for months so plenty of exposure to the elements. Armor All looked good for a couple of days but that didn't last. I'll try the above recommendation.

Don't be afraid to try WD-40. I use it on black plastic stuff at work that's discolored from chemicals, all the time, and that's the only thing that takes it away. And it shines. I can see if you don't want to use it on your vehicle, though. That's a little different. Just putting that out there.

Jeep owners tend to be on the squirrelly end of the spectrum.

Mine did this. I cleaned it with protectant and it came back. I did nothing and it cleared up on its own. Give it some time. My guess is off-gassing.
