Anyone tried cutting an access hole in the cover?
It would be nice if you didn't have to remove it to drain the oil
That is a drag to have to remove the skid. But it’s not a big deal, plus you get to inspect shit while it’s off. I have aftermarket skids that have an access panel that comes out with 1 bolt.

I love mine. I attach the hose, let it drain slowly into my oil pan, fill up 6 quarts and boom. Every oil change has been perfect and no drips, mess or issues. The magnet on the end of it is nice too.

I have FX4 so i take two bolts out, lossen the other two and slide the skid plate out. Easy

There’s also the UPR unit along with the Ronin. Just another option. Basically the same thing just a mildly different style. The UPR has given me zero issues. Worth every dime i.m.h.o.

I have the Ronin on the 2.7 in the F150 and for me I like it because it allows draining into a 2 1/2 gallon jug without spilling a drop and then I take the used oil to recycling. As removal of the oil filter on the 2.3 Ranger is such a pain I take it to the dealership for oil changes.

Just changed my oil last night, the rival skid plate with the access hatch and the ronin (well, knock off ronin, my original got trashed by the kids at Valvoline) made it damn easy to do..

Installed the Ronin Oil Pan Plug during the first oil change at 976 miles.

Aluminum foil is your friend.

Even though I don't need to, I still completely remove the Ronin Plug out of the pan each time after I drain the oil. Benefit of the Ronin over the OEM is that the Ronin not only allows a slow drain of the oil, but the magnet is a great indicator of potential engine issues.

Heads-up ... the Ronin plug is an Amazon Prime Day deal!
Ronin or the Holdy knock off? Cuz I thought I purchased the ronin but the holdy showed up, same exact plug and nothing against it but just letting potential buyers know..

Yup, how else would you know the dust you sucked in on a course eroded your turbos?

Dunno about the Ronin but I just installed a UPR valve with a nipple to drain the oil.

Ronin would require their adapter which always seemed like one more thing to lose.
I agree with the adapter comment. Which UPR did you go with? I'm thinking one of these. Oddly enough they are not listed to fit a Ranger on the UPR website.
