What are these welded nuts for?

Borrowed the picture from another post. Top of the bed rails looks like 3 on each side. My guess is 8mm. Back by the tailgate. My best guess is the swing out side mounted toolboxes.

I found some eye bolts and mounted them using these nuts, from the underside. I use them as light duty tie down hooks.

Wish I had found those nuts when I started my bed management project. Excellent idea here!

it would be nice if a company could utilize these for a bed rack.
remove the whole top cap, have a 1/4” aluminium plate that goes in its place. kbvoodoo did something similar for tacomas. was a good idea.
