I have never been adventurous enough to buy a vehicle sight unseen. Maybe old fashioned, but just wired that way. Sometimes causes me to miss out, but don't think I've ever had buyer's remorse buying new this way. Too much analysis leads to paralysis; hate the nagging feeling I could have gotten it right if only...

I feel you could validate doing that with a Raptor if you're already in line for one since if you don't like it, there's a high change a dealer may buy it off you. A standard XLT? That's a different question considering the competition.

I plan on submitting my order but have the dealer 99(tells Ford not to pull order) until my Bronco is paid off. Then will have the dealer notify me when they get rangers in so I can actually see what I am ordering before I have them change the priority code for order. Once you have a vin it’s difficult to change anything on order. My guess is the basic 2.3 engine builds get built quick.

Just because you ordered one doesn’t mean you have to accept it when it comes in. Most dealers don’t require anything down for ordering.

I considered it but with interest rates and supply chains both being a mess I'm just waiting. As much as I want a new vehicle, I don't need one badly enough to go against all these red flags.

I will order a Ranger Raptor as soon as possible to do so. I bought a new 2004 F150 FX4 without ever sitting in or driving one, I still have it & it’s been a trouble free 148k so I’m not scared to do it again.

I did with my Maverick and glad that I did. Got me at the head of the line and a relatively good delivery time. The Maverick was brand new at least everyone got feedback from the ROW folks so it’s not even that unknown while the Maverick was much riskier….no regrets it was more than I expected. šŸ˜ŠšŸ‘

Not me. I didn’t even quite do that with my current vehicle & this time around I must absolutely check in person. The short test drive I did last time wasn’t enough to uncover any issues for me. Check my whole list in person that is, so thisā€˜ll be a bit of time & process. Ideally I’ll find something similar enough on Turo to rent & try a long road trip in to see if I can sit properly & stand the ergonomics over hours.

I sort of did that with my current truck, but not quite. I decided I wanted a Ranger over anything else, and never looked at another truck. Once I decide on the 5G I went to the local dealer and drove one, then searched for the one I wanted, and found it 3 hours away. So, I did buy that truck before seeing it, but the dealer did make me drive it before they would complete the sale... I guess to CYA.

I'll probably go drive one when they hit the lots, and then if/when a hybrid comes out then I might order it.

Not a fan or ordering a vehicle; so, it's unlikely I will ever order any vehicle. Apparently I'm not brand loyal given the Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Lexus, Infiniti, Nissan, and Ford vehicles purchase in the past 20 years. When the time comes, I'll buy one of the new mid-size pickups that suits my need/want while sitting on a dealer lot. If an ordered vehicle would be delivered in 3-4 months, I'd reconsider.

I agree. I can't imagine buying a vehicle without test-driving it first, even if it's the same model. There's no harm in a test drive, but I know I'd lay awake at night wondering if I made the right call if I didn't. Folks who buy without a test drive; what's your reasoning? Just curious.

For me and my Maverick it was getting to the front of line (which worked) and getting what I ordered before they ran out of ā€œstuffā€. My dealer didn’t ask for a deposit and didn’t care if I took delivery. So I had nothing to lose. Most dealers are fine if you don’t take it, they put it on their lot and sell it in short time with a mark up in some cases. I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.
People, including the local sales manager is still trying to get mine every time I get an oil change. He said people don’t want to wait and willing to pay for instant gratification.

I considered it a few months ago but with interest rates where they are, I don't see harm in waiting. Especially after noticing all the "first-model-year pains" that the GM twins are having for the people who got the first orders in.

I don't trust any manufacturer to have a smooth rollout and I don't want to spend $50k to be a beta tester.

You make a good point, if you have a dealership that wouldn't charge you for backing out then you actually have nothing to lose. In that case, it makes sense to take a leap and try out newer vehicles.

For me - my Maverick order took a year as it was.... With the Ranger I want to jump out in front and be the first one ( of the 1,500 lol) orders out there. I drove the G5 with the 2.3L I watched a ton of Ause videos. In the end I don't want to wait another year.

I feel like I've watched enough videos of ROW Raptor reviews and ownership experience that it's more than enough compared to anything I would get in a 15 minute test drive. And to add, I doubt any dealer will let you test drive a Raptor on their lot.

I one time asked to test drive a TRD Pro, and they laughed me out the door. They were like you can sit in it and test drive an SR5. And as we know, I didn't end up buying one.
