I've always bought Ford vehicles. Never even considered anything else. It's very rare that that I have ever had to have warranty work done on one. Well, my new Ranger XLT is beginning to be something of a disappointment. I've only put 200 miles on it and already things are popping up that are causing concern.

1. The center display is glitchy. Sometimes it just won't come on and others it comes on but won't get past the startup screen. I can shut the truck down completely and it will correct the problem.
2.I get a "collision avoidance not available" warning on the DIC. This is intermittent. The windshield is clean.
3. I get a "adaptive cruise control module is blocked" warning. It came with a front license plate holder and I'm
wondering if this is on upside down.
4. A back seat seat belt will not lock in. Don't they test these? You would think so.
5. The fuel door keeps popping open going down the road.

Some of these may be nit picking and some are serious safety issues. Maybe I should have gone with the Tacoma. But I've always been a Ford guy. We'll see what happens when I take it in for repairs. But I can hear it now. "We couldn't recreate the problem" so............ I hear people with that problem all the time.
Rant over......carry on.

My old truck used to have a bully bar on the front that would interfere with the front sensors so it would interrmidetly throw an alarm and deactivate the emergency front braking and adaptive cruise control. See if there’s anything blocking it or maybe it’s a sensor issue

The only thing on the front of the truck is a tag holder. As much as I want a grill guard I pretty sure that's not going to work on this one. My guts telling me the tag holder is upside down. I'm hoping there are no holes drilled in the front end to mount it.

I tried to enhance your profile pic a bit, and it does look like it is on upside down.
Those black tabs that stick out should be on the bottom, not top. I'm going off of how mine is on my Raptor.

Agreed. I looked at my other two Fords. An SD and escape. Those tabs are both on the bottom. I may try to figure out how its mounted and see if it can flipped. You would think that a mistake like that would not happen but I guess not.

My plate is mounted flush with the BOTTOM of the bumper so it is above and blocking some of the grill. Yours looks like it is the opposite and flush with the top of the bumper sticking down. I don't have a front camera or the adaptive cruise and emergency braking so I can't comment on the orientation of the plate causing issues with them.

From a post I read here the system for those would mount in the hole where the plate is blocking in your picture so if that is true then I can see why it would be alarming all the time.

Here is a link to the forum post https://www.ranger6g.com/forum/threads/what-are-these-rivnuts-for.12007/

In one of the comments you can see he bottom of the plate and it is flush with the bottom of the bumper like mine is. Hope this helps!

"I've always bought _____ vehicles" - I think that's a mistake, why have brand loyalty?

Goes without saying but bring it in every time you have a concern and get it documented. The new Tacoma's are also having issues, I think serious mechanical issues that we don't seem to have. It sounds like you have electrical gremlins going on that aren't as simple to diagnose.

Every time the management team at Ford gives into the union demands of pay based on time at the company instead of workplace performance, the QC gets worse and worse!

That is the main issue.
Make the employees pay structure heavily based on QC related warranty work and things would change overnight.
These guys get more and more every year regardless of how good a job they do.

While I don't disagree about UAW workers up in Michigan putting out some questionable QC issues as we have all seen...

The front license plate bracket is a dealer installed item during PDI - it doesn't ship from MAP with it installed.

I have had this pop up on my XL a few times early on but now 2 months later, rarely happens and I think it is due to the morning dew fogging up the sensor lens and once the sensor window heater kicks in, goes away.

I made a thread about having the same issue. Now seems to have worn in and not had the issue in over a month.

Other stuff I cannot help with but it looks like you got the license plate thing figured out.

While frustrating, nothing is keeping you dead on the side of the road. Just work the warranty process and be patient. First year anything is going to have issues.

I'm not a Ford "fan boy" (4th Generation dealer is a family friend) but have owned 14 Fords since '78 plus three "other" makes. Only one - until now - had problems, a 2000 Explorer Eddie Bauer. None of the rest were ever in the dealer except for routine things.

My '24 RR was built in January and, like all Rangers, not shipped until April. Delivered on 22 April w/66 miles. Ford said it was for blah, blah, blah, but since Ford has (had?) the worst frequency of repair in the industry, I believe (and it's just me) it was to get those things that could be fixed during production fixed. Farley finally has paid attention and there has been some improvement.

My RR is, mechanically, just fine. No issues ... but, like the OP, I have software problems which are the same as his. Blank screen, 2 minutes to come on, etc., all of which seem to be random. Additionally, the Adaptive Cruise will indicate being off, but still works. But there are other issues that are programming concerns - like Lane Keeping automatically coming on even when deselected on the screen. I asked my selling dealer to reinstall the software, thinking it might just be a glitch, but was told Ford will not allow a reinstall unless there is an update to the software (It's online and Ford controls it from Detroit).

Given the cost of today's vehicles we should expect more. As manufacturers put more and more electronic control into their vehicles, one could argue it's understandable. It's cheaper for them. I don't like it, but given the push for more and more screen control, I don't see it getting better in the near term. Let's hope over-the-air updates fix these bugs, some of which have been around a lot longer than they should.

He was having two electrical issues though, the instrument cluster screen and the driver assistance stuff. I guess they could be two unrelated issues. Knock on wood, my truck hasn't really had any problems.
