X-Plan vs Dealer Discounts

Deleted member 9970

Question for those with access to and experience with X-Plan pricing.

What % can you save purchasing a Ranger XLT FX4 via X-Plan?

I can find inventory models with $5000 off MSRP (10%+) and I wondered if that was better than going X-Plan.

In my experience it's generally a ~4% discount from MSRP, or 1.4% off invoice price. So if your MSRP is $42k, it would be in the ballpark of 40.5k + administrative or document fees.

If you're seeing 5k off MSRP, it's almost certianly better than x-plan all day long.

It is a supply vs demand deal.
X-plan is good when a model first comes out and is in demand. That is a time when dealers are usually selling at or above sticker. As the models get more plentiful and there is supply then better deals can be found.

$5000 off is definately a better deal. If you put in a factory order X-plan is a good idea (just like a new model stated above).

where are you seeing 5k discount? I'm looking Lariat and tough to get that in AZ. Seems they not want to discount or maybe I'm not doing it right! X-plan is my fallback option.

As mentioned, $5k off is a good deal and better than x-plan. But also as mentioned, x-plan pricing is nice when you're placing an order as opposed to buying from dealer inventory. But, I'm just here to say that while x-plan may or may not be helpful to you, understand that you don't qualify for it instantly buy joining a club like the mustang club. The fine print says you have to be a member for 90 days before qualifying for x-plan pricing, so plan accordingly. With 2025 production starting in roughly 7 weeks or so, if you're thinking of placing an order then get your mustang club membership now as you may already be too late.

I used a Phoenix zip code and I can see Lariats that have been on sale for up to 185 days. That’s 6 months!! Vehicles in demand do not sit for 6 months. I recommend you ask for 10% off MSRP and do that remotely. One of the fish will bite. Good luck!!

I asked a question about that on another thread, and here you have an answer. I'm going to try to make a deal on a '24 XLT High FX4 2.7 when it shows up on the lot this week. I have a $500 refundable reserve deposit on it.

I could have done Xplan but found a better deal on an ordered 25 Lariat 90 minutes from home. Ended up with $3200 off MSRP and plus any ford promotions when it comes in. They have a $500 Farm Bureau discount now so I hope that holds on for 2025. Not quite as good as Grainger but if you add in a plane ticket, a hotel and fuel, pretty darn close.

See my post Jason. Things have changed drastically in the last 30 days. Inventory coming in and not selling. Mine was Invoice minus the dealer holdback, or about $3200 off MSRP plus their doc fee. You should also get any ford promos ( Farm Bureau member? Student? etc.)
