Apologies for the silly title, but I'm not very experienced with buying new cars, well, ever. But I have my heart set on a RRaptor (and I've already unloaded my Tacoma to free up funds to do so).

After watching the Bronco fiasco (and the Lightning fiasco, and the Maverick fiasco) It's dawning on me that acquiring an in-demand SVT vehicle is more akin to getting Taylor Swift concert tickets than traditional car shopping. You need to be well prepared with a game plan or you're either not getting a truck, or will be wildly overpaying to do so. In fact every dealer within a 3 hours drive from me up in the PNW has already boldly admitted to expect a ~10k+ ADM.

So, informal poll for folks intending to have a Ranger Raptor in their driveway this Fall/Winter. Do you have a plan yet? Do you already have a dealer or salesman lined up? Are you expecting to pay an ADM? If not, how do you find these straight shooter dealerships that won't burn you on a markup? I about wore out my phone battery calling dealers and couldn't find a single one, so if you've any tips or know of any volume dealers please post 'em up or shoot me a DM.

Im in the same boat as you, but in california. I called a few dealerships already, with one telling me I wouldn’t be getting an allocation period. At the same time, I’m ok with a slight adm, as time has value, if I’m not waiting a year, I may determine the adm is worth it 🤷‍♂️

I'm on 2 dealers lists now. I just found out today from a friend who's wife (is high up at a dealer) gave my info to their sales manager to add to their list. I know for sure the first two lists I'm #1 with no markups one is here in AZ and one is back in MA where I use to live. The one back east I've bought many trucks from over the years along with my family and friends. I'm going through the owner so I know there's no games being played there, I do not trust any salesman! For me it'll come down to the price because as much as I want a Raptor I don't need one and won't overpay for it. If it's over $60K I'll probably walk and I have the feeling it's going to be with the Bronco Raptor going for $84K.

I've been on the "list" at my dealer when these were just concept rumors. Did the same with my 2020 Shelby GT500. Sticker it is. We also have a Maverick for another family member on order as well. Consistency helps.....

Plan thus far:

Registering here, emailed every Ford dealership in the area with 4.5+ Google stars, and tried to form a connection with a sales rep who wants someone with a day 1 cash down order.

Then trying to figure out how to offload my C6 either trade in, auction, or private sale (It's engine is pretty far from stock - but I am aware of reality). I'm hesitant/unsure if I should go to these dealerships now and try to get a trade in valuation or wait till I can make a custom order.

I don’t think it’s worth seeking a trade in valuation until you take delivery, the used car market will be very different by the time these roll off the plant. So when delivery is about a month out is when I’d prob ask the dealership to discuss trade in as an option, then maybe try and sell private party if you can for higher dollar, but you know approx what you can get from a trade in perspective

I am #2 on list at the small town dealer in my little town. I know them all as friends and drove auction and dealer trades back when that went one before auction prices went haywire. I just want the V-6. They asked for no money, I send them all the info/rumors from here and Ford Authority. I have my 16K miles '19 Lariat pre-sold at high private sale price from KBB and the dealer even stated they wanted a chance at it but being in Illinois I don't really understand the states stupid sales tax as it impacts trade ins. It seems safe to assume the conventional wisdom that the way I ordered my '19 will not be the same for the Raptors, but exactly how it will work is as Dalton said "opinions vary"

I have spoken to my salesman in Vegas and he informed me they don't have a pre buy list for the RRanger. I was a day 1 Bronco Badlands order and purchase through them, hopefully this help me with ordering when it opens.

I'm supposedly #1 on my local dealer's list to contact as soon as they have ordering info. However, that was several months ago and I haven't spoken to them since. Back then they told me that they only expected to get an allocation of one RRaptor per year and to expect an ADM. My current truck is an '18 F-150 4x4 Screw with V8 and 3.73 axle ratio. Other than the typical weird noises coming from the Coyote I really like my truck and it still has relatively low mileage so for me it's more about wanting a Raptor than needing a new truck. In other words, if the price is too high I'm out.
Not that it's a huge concern since I won't drive enough to worry that much about it but I honestly expect a Ranger Raptor to get worse fuel mileage than my F-150, even with the V8. Believe it or not, my F-150 is several hundred pounds lighter than even the previous gen Ranger Raptor.

Roughly a year ago I contacted a few of the largest volume selling Ford dealerships in my area to ask about getting a F-150 Lightning. I was told everything from "3 to 4 years" to "not going to happen". Well here we are 1 year later and Lightning trucks are everywhere and dealers are having a hard time moving them.

Point being, just because it may SEEM like it'll be impossible to get a Raptor, you might be surprised later this fall to see them just sitting around on lots. With interest rates at 7% for people with great credit and the fact that these small Raptors will likely have $60k sticker prices on them, I think we'll see the niche crowd scarf up the first deliveries quickly but then after those first couple of months dealers will start having a hard time moving them.

Agreed. The economy is very much trending downwards. You turn on the news, and its either a bank failing, or more layoffs. In my city alone, lots of companies going under. A lot of people who are cash buyers, going to be a little more hesitant, and a lot of people who need financing going to be priced out.

I think when the time comes, they will be available if you put in the leg work. Of course if you're uninformed and uneducated, you might let some dealer talk you into an ADM. There's going to be hype with this like any new model release, but I don't think these will be unattainable.

I'm guessing it will be at least 18 months if ever before you see that scenario play out. Ford will only build a few thousand Ranger Raptors per year and even less with the first year of production being so protracted. The Lightning is being produced in way higher numbers than that plus I think the plug-in EV movement is not as strong as Ford, Biden and Motor Trend had hoped. Or is that hyped? Anyway, people are also starting to see the abysmal towing numbers of EVs and other disadvantages and having second thoughts.

But you're talking apples-oranges when comparing a Lighning to a Raptor. The Raptor won't be produced in nearly the numbers that the Lighning is, plus not everyone want's an EV. Personally I think the Lightning is way overpriced for what it is and the limited mileage you get especially when towing. Now that they've been out for a while people are seeing the real towing miles and they're not good. With the limited production of the Raptor I wouldn't bank on seeing many sitting on dealers lots and if they are, expect at least a $10K markup. One dealer here told me all their Raptors get $30K across the board.

As far as the economy goes there are many who still have money and are making some good money in fixed income investments right now. With the limited availability of the Raptor I don't think dealers will have any problems selling them. Then there are those like myself who never got their Bronco and still have all that money saved towards one along with their trade in.

My local dealership has 4 F150 Raptors on their lot. They probably have ADMs on them, but they are sitting. Of course I know this isnt exactly apples to apples.

Listen, I'm not disagreeing, if you want literally the first Ranger Raptor in a small town, there's going to be some challenges. But as another poster said, after all the hype beasts on enthusiast forums like us, have secured theirs, I think they will be available.

I'm not doubting they'll eventually have some sitting on dealers lots but I would count on it for several years. The F150 Raptor has been out so long now that it's "newness" has kind of worn off. I haven't been on the Bronco forum much at all but just went over there and found this thread on the BRaptor. It's already in it's second year and it looks like there's still very long lists to get them. Good luck finding one sitting with no markups. Then there's a whole bunch (myself included) on R5G who think the 6G is hideous and would only consider a Raptor. I guess if someones willing to wait 3+ years for one you might see them on some dealers lots but I already played that (Bronco) game. Heck IF I get one soon in 3 years I'll probably be looking for something else as I rarely keep anything that long. lol

https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/thre...duction-run-expected-for-bronco-raptor.68438/

They are selling every one they can build, and there is a long line waiting to order.
