I am of the opinion if they extended union rules to the ev plants that would end the strike
It’s weird that Ford is digging in their heels on that point. Starting wages at both BOC and BO SK are higher than UAW wages and benefits are similar. Ford’s willing to pay, they just don’t want organization.

Pretty much. In fact I think I saw something where they raised the wages. It's really just an attempt to phase out the union and the union knows it as well as ford. I completely understand the union giving them the finger over this.

Will only further price out union made vehicles versus non union. Toyota and others made in America with non union labor will only gain more advantage by being able to keep prices down or by not having to cheapen their vehicles by eliminating features.

Cutting their noses off to spite themselves if they don't get realistic.

Ford has to cut corners to keep prices down and has for years.

Tacoma like f150 is top dog in sales by a long ways in their respective segments, so they can get away with higher prices and higher profit margins. But if you keep driving up production costs when other automakers don't have this issue, you will become less competitive. Ford, gm, stellantis will have to either raise prices, or cut features or quality to offset the increase in production costs.

This is common sense!

Actually it is that cut and dry. If your production costs increase you have to make it up somewhere. You cut corners or you raise the price.

We had a Ford dealership for 97 yrs in my family. I'm not anti Ford. I am actually worried for them.

Inconvenience has nothing to do with what we are talking about.

see link where Toyota accepted their unions demands.

Dealerships are not comparable to manufacturing

No one was discussing dealerships. Reference was about not being anti ford.Ford.

And that wasn't their us manufacturing plants. They are non union.

I'm looking at this purely from a consumer point of view because at the end of the day, I am a consumer of a product. I'm not a union worker, and I'm not a corporate officer. I understand there's business and politics behind this, but in all honesty, I don't really care about any of that.

I've never owned a Ford before, but I am willing to take the plunge on the Ranger Raptor because of how awesome the reviews and reception it has thus far around the world. Granted, when I was telling my friends, coworkers, and family, a lot of them expressed what a bad idea it is to buy a Ford product. And truth be told, I steered clear from Ford in the past based on a lot of the anecdotal quality issues I always hear about. None of the recent events, along with the massive Bronco/Maverick delays before, have painted my first impressions with this brand in a positive light. Those are just the facts. And that is why I am considering other options.

I still prefer the Ranger, but you have to see it purely from the consumer's point of view, and what they are experiencing when trying to buy a car from this company. It has not been pleasant. Anyways, I am not abandoning ship, because its true, Tacomas are not even priced or available for purchase yet, but I will say, at one time I only have Ranger Raptor on my mind, but that is not true anymore.

One thing is for sure. The cost of all of this is going to be passed down to us.

The only way this will end quickly is if Ford institutes layoffs at all Union plants. Right now only one side is feeling pain. The Union strike fund can last for almost a year at the rate they are burning it off. A full layoff would deplete the strike fund in 12 weeks.
