There are quite a few posts from people who have unplugged it from multiple different Ford vehicles with not so much as a warning indicator going off. The only result was a loss of My ford pass functions/ remote monitoring and control of starting the vehicle.I’d be surprised if the vehicle even worked without it.
Interesting. I didn’t know that. There are quite a few posts from people who have unplugged it from multiple different Ford vehicles with not so much as a warning indicator going off. The only result was a loss of My ford pass functions/ remote monitoring and control of starting the vehicle.
If this is all it effects, I can see a lot of people opting to do so. Remote control & monitoring being a "feature" of new cars is not a world we should be encouraging. There are quite a few posts from people who have unplugged it from multiple different Ford vehicles with not so much as a warning indicator going off. I would have to agree with you. The only issue will be how to access them without damaging the display screen. If this is all it effects, I can see a lot of people opting to do so. Remote control & monitoring being a "feature" of new cars is not a world we should be encouraging.
This is the TCU fuse location:

That's fantastic and thank you for reporting back. I'll be doing exactly the same then!I pulled fuse 8 and can confirm the modem is no longer operational and cannot be enabled in settings. No warning lights or anything.
The TCU is probably still collecting telemetry, which I assume could be uploaded to Ford's servers if a dealer connects to the OBD-II port, but it's at least no longer transmitting live and cannot receive remote commands.
