Hey guys
So before we get excited. Lol
The raptor MPG feels insanely low. Full size V8 trucks can get to mid/upper 20s on the highway but ranger raptor gets 18?

I looked into this a bit. It seems the beed lock wheels lower mpg slightly?

Look i get it. Smiles per mile. I have a zl1 camaro and it gets 24mpg hwy and thats 650hp s/c v8. I never really care much about mpg. I drove a whole 4k miles in 9 months. I get the "just dont get a raptor if you care about mpg". But a lot of vehicles that can off road just dont offer the same thrill.

I think a lot has to do with the fact its a twin turbo v6, final gear ratio is 4.12ish and the tires are huge. As much as i want this truck. And i can afford it. This feels insane with gas at 5.50/gal. Ill also road trip this truck to mountains and such for camping.

So hows your mpg on this truck? Is it really this bad? Anything that easily improves it a bit so i can average around lower 20s hwy?

Thank you. And not being a wuss just trying to make educated decisions.

Throw some street tires on it and you'll probably get the highway mpg up to 20-22 mpg. You can also put 87 octane in it.

The Ranger Raptor can get 20mpg on the freeway if you keep it locked at like 65mph.

You saw the rated mpg and just thought it would be wildly wrong?

Im not sure how this post said i doubted the mpg rating. Its why is it that bad and how to improve it. About all my cars i get over epa ratings even driven hard.

15.4 average mpg at 7000 miles combined city and highway here according to truck computer. I will say smiles per mile is much better.

Swap from the stock beadlock capable wheels to RTR Evo 6. You’ll save 16lbs per wheel.

Drive 70mph on the freeway.

Speed up and slow down like you want good mpg.

Running almost 19 mpg with 15,500 miles so far. FPP tune was done in December so have added 6k miles since and saw mileage drop about 1 mpg but saw an increase in spg doubling that. Hard tonneau did nothing to add mpg, and have always ran Premium fuel.

First off I get over 20 on the highway specifically.

Second the RR is a heavier than a base model V8 F150 (and also has 4A (simlar to all wheel drive) which adds some of that weight. Even the large heavy off-road tires hit your mpg significantly.

You could go to an F-150 forum and ask the same question about the F-150 Raptor and get the same answer.

I get 20.5 combined with a F150 Lariat 3.5L Ecoboost always in eco mode. Best ever was 21.2. Mostly at 20.

I averaged 19 mpg driving through Ohio this weekend (flat roads). FP tune and 92/93 gas. That's with cruise control locked at 70-80 mph.
