Id like to see the government study showing how the added blow by caused by accelerated ring wear from constantly dropping in and out of elastohydrodynamoc lubrication regimes from auto start / stop cycles affects carbon output of an ICE relative to an engine that isnt running like ASS over 100k, 150k and 200k miles....oh wait they never did so this whole thing might be an EPA boondoggle where the solution is worse than the alleged problem...cause that never happens, bawhahahaha!
But hey, we couldnt just focus in planting more trees / vegitation, its not like it synthesize CO2 or anything like that.......and let's ignore the fact that China produces 3x the CO2 of the US...cause that has zero effect and apprently our CO2 is all that matters....and let's also ignore the massive body of conflicting evidence that suggests the whole global warming thing has nothing to do with CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere the heating / cooling cycles over hundreds of years might just be defined almost entirely by natural cycles relative to that giant ball of gas in space thats 100,000 times the size of the earth....but what do we all know eh? Follow the science they say....until its inconvenient to the agenda.
Mazda did a study on driving habits and conditions across the US and found that ASS was of no benefit because the majority of drivers dont stay in traffic long enough to merit shutting down the engine due to the added fuel and wear incurred to start it back up. It was better to leave it running unless for long durations (several minutes or more).
So they resisted ASS as much as possible. My 2023 3 carbon doesnt have it, neither does my wife's 2026 CX-50, but my pops 2024 CX-90 and our 24' RR does.
Yah, the EPA can go take one up the ASS on this one.
