Yes, it is disappointing. These tanks were advertised and sold stating you could recalibrate, using Forscan, so that your fuel gauge and DTE would be correct.Reading this is a little disappointing, but hopefully a solution will pop up.
And to those that asked why a long-range tank, it's mainly for overlanding.
this is true up to model year 2024 on US spec trucks. I read about, and saw several videos of people installing these tanks and recalibrating them with this working correctly—and is why I wanted one of these tanks. The problem is on 2025 and later trucks the published procedures for Forscan doesn’t work. On early model trucks the module that receives the information and has the fuel tank capacity stored—and where Forscan makes the changes to, are in the dash module. In 2025, Ford change the way the system receives/stores data and has the fuel tank information now in the ECU. You can still find and see the legacy information in the dash module on Forscan, you can even make changes to it just like before—it just doesn’t do anything anymore as the ECU does it now.
