Looking to put 35s on my 25 RR. I like the stock wheels but I’m unsure if the +55 will force rubbing. I’m also trying to save a buck and not purchase wheels (if possible) and if needed, I am instead looking at potentially just using wheel spacers to get to about a +40 to +35 offset for the tires. Anybody have pictures or suggestions as to whether this would work? I’ve got a strut spacer kit that will be installed as well. 2” in the front, 1” in the back. I’d like this to be useful off-road as well and not just be capable on road.

Updated:
Decided to do 35x11.5r17 Toyo R/T Pros with a 2/1 strut spacer kit only. Tires are on stock wheels with no spacers. Crashbars were not touched and there was no trimming needed. I did have to remove the rear mudflaps as my passenger rear got caught on the tire and decided to destroy itself. Other than that, I have yet to test it in any offroad scenario yet to check true articulation.

I"m running 35x11.50 on the stock wheels with a 1" lift in the front. No rubbing. Rear crash bars and mudflaps in place, and front crash bars removed.
Awesome.
Can you post a picture...?

I am also interested in this topic. I was thinking about running Mickey Thompson Baja boss at tires in the 255/85 r17 size ( often called pizza cutters) . I think they are as narrow as the stock KO3s but 34.5” tall. In theory you could run those with the 2:1 spacer lift and stock rims. I would love to see pictures though before I pull the trigger. They might look funny being that skinny. I think the 11.5” wide tires look good, just have no idea how pizza cutters would look.

I was wondering if 11.5 would work better. Which tires did you end up going with?

What about a lower width 35x11.5? Do you think the extra inch of clearance would mitigate those issues you saw with the 315/70r17? If I understood your article correctly, going from a 285/70r17 to a 35x11.5r17 would result in an approximate 58.2mm increase in diameter, which means I then need to push the wheel out more than 58.2mm to not have issues? So over a 2 inch spacer would be needed?

edit: just realized you said strut spacer equal to or greater than an increase in diameter, not wheel spacer. So really since I’m getting a 2” strut spacer, do you think the 11.5 would be fine?

Yeah I’d love to see a picture of those. I’m thinking the 35x11.5 would be good but I’m looking for verification on that. I’m not even opposed to doing 35x11.5 with some 20mm wheel spacers if I can find some that are sturdy.

Was the front crash bar removal necessary?

Your Rapotor looks awesome... Ford should have done that from the factory.
Well Done!!!
What lift kit did you use?
Thanks! Just this cheap rough country kit:

For the rear I used:

Yes it's listed for a Bronco but it works.

Ride stayed the same imo. I've had king shocks before and was never a fan of spacer lifts but this setup works fine for me. No negatives.

Do it! Here are 315s with a 1" front strut spacer. Had to remove the driver rear crash bar and trim half an inch or so off the mudflaps. No fender rubbing at full compression with the stock offset. Wider offsets might need a bigger lift or some negative front camber. If I were to do it again I'd go skinny with 35x11.5 tires, but 315s still work great.

Buy a 1-in spacer and then use 35x11.5 X17 tires.
Should require no crash bar removal or trimming of any kind. This is with the plus 2 in the front
