I have had mud flaps on almost all my vehicles, but the Raptor looks so good without them, I am hesitating getting some. I will rarely take it off road. There is plastic trim protecting the lower rear, and the running boards adds protection up front. But at about $150 for a full set of Weather Techs, it's not expensive protection. Do you all have them? Which ones? How do they look?

For your use, and If you are running stock offset on a Raptor (with Raptor flares) personally I wouldn't bother. Only really need them if you are in sloppy conditions and running less offset than stock.

Take my opinion for what its worth - I don't have a Raptor, but I'm running +25 offset on a Ranger without the extended flares and I needed flaps.

Solid argument.

The way the truck is designed the front bed corner catches so many rocks.

Obviously, it's your truck and you know your needs and taste best.

My RR came with the Ford Performance factory mudflaps. While part of me agrees with you regarding the aesthetic appeal of the truck without the mudflaps, over time they have really grown on me from a visual standpoint. More so than aesthetics, I really wanted an extra layer of protection to the areas of truck that are prone to rock chipping/dings and so I almost certainly would have purchased the FP mudflaps if they weren't included on my RR.

I don't think there is a bad choice here. Really, it's just about figuring out how you weigh and balance aesthetics vs. utility; I can easily appreciate the RR with or without the mudflaps.

I have front and backs on my RR and wife’s XLT/FX4. They are the ones offered on Ford accessories site. They help tremendously and I have factory set up on RR and aftermarket wheels/tires and a leveling kit on FX4. Before flaps, constantly getting rocks bouncing in ff of running boards but the flaps decreased this to almost zero.

Even with running boards? The front mud flaps would help with that?
Running boards do help, but for reference just compare the F150's rear fender flare to the Ranger:

The first few days I had my RR the weather was bad. It was throwing a lot of crap between the front fender and the running board up onto the doors. Even if you never offroad, sand and gravel gets throw by the tires. The mud flaps fill that gap and at the rear they reduce the crap thrown up as well.

I couldn't find cheaper options that looked near as good as the FP flaps so I got those.

Ok, I'm about 99% convinced to get some. I am finding the FP guards at about $160 a set. Is the install pretty straight forward?

Very simple to install! I got mine on eBay from a Ford dealer for less than my dealer offered. I still would have used my Ford points to get them, but the dealer told me it would be 3 weeks!! Whether you offroad or not they will reduce rock chips considerably! Just my opinion but I think the OEM,'s blend well as they were designed for the truck.
