My 25 Ranger XLT 2.7 hesitates or fails to engage during low speed maneuvers.

Kind of hard to explain but several times when coming to a stop to turn onto an intersection say….about 15-20 mph, as I press the go pedal nothing happens. It will move if I let off the pedal and reengage. Has anyone else have this issue? I only have 2,900 miles on the odometer. Obviously a safety issue.

Yea, my new 2026 2.7 also has low speed stumble or hesitation at low throttle. Just at 1,000 miles.

My understanding is it is not that unusual with turbocharged engines.

A couple of more thoughts.

If I give it more gas it powers right through the hesitation and goes.

This is in Normal Mode. I haven't tried Sport Mode yet.

I have noticed something sort of similar at times at low speed, such as at intersections or when backing into my very tight garage. - 2025 Lariat 2.7 4x4, and so far it seems to be anytime I touch gas pedal and brake pedal at slightly the same time. I am a "left foot braker" due I suppose from 60+ years driving a stick shift. Anyway, I use left foot for the brake pedal and right foot for gas. (don't bother to tell me I shouldn't do that, I am old and not going to change .
If I touch the gas pedal before I am 100% "off" the brake pedal the engine sort of stalls and throttle feels dead and brakes seem to "stick" for half a second as part of the "accident avoidance" software or something... I have gotten used to it so only rarely happens anymore, but just make sure you don't have a split second of both pedals moving at the same time.. Regards...

Haven't had it in my '24 2.7L, but it happened a number of times on my '21 2.3L. There are reports of it on the 5G forum, but no solution, AFAIK.

My 2024 Ranger Lariat with 2.3 did that until I turned auto hold off
It felt as described off the line.

Turned it off as soon as I received my 2025 RR

Dry doing a bit of left foot braking to build boost and activate the anti-lag.
Then it should launch you pretty good!

Edit: You'd need to have a RR with it in Baja mode for this.

2025 Lariat 2.7 does the same thing- stumbles sometimes when taking off or driving at low speed. Very annoying.

Mine does this too I think it's the transmission getting confused. I swear it happens more when you are maneuvering slow in sport mode.

Mine hesitates shifting out of 1st gear when cold. Also what kind of fuel are you guys running? I've been strictly 91 - 93 octane.

I use 91 Octane, which the best we can get around here.

I think I've had what you describe with my 2.7. I am pretty sure it has to do with auto start/stop. It's happened when I've been braking hard enough that I think it senses a stop or I've held the brake just long enough that it starts to go into engine shutdown. That engine shutdown then coincides with me giving it throttle again which causes it to stumble momentarily. Usually has happened in eco mode, but then I have mostly been driving in eco mode (it's really not bad with the 2.7). I usually forget to deactivate auto start stop as well. My solution is going to be installing an eliminator. We'll see if it happens after that.

Auto start stop eliminator was my day 1 mod. I think a lot of people are having this issue at speed which shouldn't be affected by auto start/stop.

I get a kick out of following a left foot braker who doesn't take their foot all the way off the pedal and their brake lights stay on. I wander how many brake pads they burn through and how terrible their mileage must be.
