2.7 oil dipstick with “H” stamp

Can anyone confirm the dipstick with the Triangle stamp exists? Or are they all stamped with the H designation?
I’m referring to a 2024 Ranger Lariat with the 2.7 EB engine. The EPN on mine is FT4E-6750-BG. My understanding is that the new triangle stamp is the newer version. If anyone can confirm this I would appreciate it. Thanks to all replies and thanks to the forum.

The stamp is in black ink at the very top of the loop (handle). Mine is the “H” stamp, which I suspect is an earlier version of the stick that has since been updated with a black triangle stamp. This would be my second 2.7 engine owned. My 2016 F150 had neither. The reason for my inquiry is the stick consistently measuring overfilled on my 2024 Ranger Lariat with the 2.7. I have measured 6 quarts out, and 6 quarts in, yet it still shows to be over filled by a quart. Based on the endless threads on the Bronco forums about wrong dipstick dilemmas, I’m trying to determine if the “H” stick may simply be the issue. It’s my understanding that the newer dipstick with the triangle stamp may be updated, but still shares the same part number. I’ll try to update this thread with a picture of the stamp.

That’s 6 quarts out, 6 quarts in. Sitting overnight in the photo. I have also checked after normal operating temperature achieved, waited 15 minutes, checked and makes no difference. I have checked 15 minutes (per Manual) , 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, overnight. Doesn’t matter, always shows overfilled on that stick.
I absolutely did a COMPLETE drain, measured 6 out, put 6 in. That’s why I’m asking about the sticks. I asked the dealer about this, and the response was “ anywhere on the stick is fine “
Anyone have any experience similar to this? I don’t recall any issues like this in my 2016 F150 with the 2.7, but I also don’t know which stick Ford used back then. I am 61, and have been changing oil in vehicles for over 40 years. All replies are appreciated.

Holy cow, thats a lot kver the factory marks.

Can you just etch your own marks, for now? Since you are foing ro try and replace it anyways, it wont hurt anything.


I had to hit the junkyard for a trans dipstick for a wrangler we had gotten super cheap. Mopar doesnt make, and bo one makes, a trans dipstick for the wrangler trans in the early tjs. I ended up just getting a grand cherokee stick and cutting it down, then marking it myself. I filled notches into the side at the high and low marks but thought about etching them instead

I may have to, I can’t confirm the stick with the triangle even exists, or that is any different. I did see a fellow on the F150 forum that did exactly what you described and cut a notch on the stick.
I ordered a stick from Ford , but it’s the same one I have with the H stamp.
That’s why I made this post, to see if anybody has any experience with this.

First time checking the oil. Only 611 miles on the odometer. Mine appears to be 3/16 to 1/4 inch over the full mark.

Thanks for looking at it, it’s an odd and frustrating thing . My Ranger has 4200 on it . Been this way since I took it off the lot. I am very suspect of the dipstick.
