Depends on which state lines you cross. If you plan to transport any firearm over state lines, you need to know what that states laws are concerning the carrying and transporting of firearms BEFORE you cross the state line.
...hence my comment on pistol vs. rifle. Especially since I also accounted for locked, out of sight.

I run a smart cap with a driver side half bin. Mounted the ole rattler in there. still have plenty of room for all my camping gear in the other 80% of the smart cap.

I definitely don't hate that.

Do you have any pictures that show the setup better? Preferably in daylight.

Hey Y'all,

I was wondering if any of y'all have found a place to store your rifle in the ranger. I have a 16.5in barrel rifle that I would like to keep in my truck... I haven't found a place that would keep it accessible and secure... I was thinking about mounting locking clips to the side space next to my back seats (the gap between the door and the seat)... that has been my best idea so far. I would put it under/behind my back seats but right now I keep a KARGA shelf seat that doesn't allow for me to open the seats... I was wondering if anyone had suggestions/experiences with this... Thanks for any help that y'all can provide..
Is there a way to mount it to the B piller just behind the seat belt? Some sort of quick release clips for the barrell and just below the trigger guard.

an overhead rack like this might also be an option.

I haven’t used either one, but I think I might give the seat back one a try.
In my early days of doing automotive electrical work I use to service a lot of the alphabet agencies and they had similar setups to this and would have some material Velcroā€˜d to the headliner that matched and it did a decent job of hiding the shotguns or M4s they had up there.

I built my own version of a decked system. A van drawer is like 50ā€x12ā€x6ā€ so you could put some pelican case foam and keep it in the back. But it really comes down to if you want to be able to access it from drivers seat or in the cab vs in the bed/canopy etc. expanding on your ā€œwhat ifā€ game… I remember a company that specialized in making a slide out rifle rack that pulled the tail light
