My 2024 2.7L runs almost exclusively on 87. At around 3k miles I ran a couple tanks on premium for a section of a road tip and only noticed a 1.5 mpg difference. That is nowhere near enough improvement to justify the cost, and I did not notice any change in performance. I’m always within 1500 feet of sea level and not in an area prone to extreme heat.
At around 8k miles I did see an improvement in mpg (roughly 2 mpg) which I attribute to edge break-in. I changed the oil at 1k, and 5k miles, so I feel like I’ve taken great care of the engine and allowed it to break in properly.
