The first press on this knob turns the auto temperature on or off. According to the manual repeated presses "Adjusts auto mode". There are three leds on the knob that cycle with the repeated presses. The manual offers no additional info on what this adjusts. It does nothing to the blower. Can someone from Ford shed some light on this mystery?

Same thing on the Raptor.
What is this 3 position AUTO mode ?
At Audi for example, the AUTO mode will blow hard at the beginning to reach the requested temperature and then stabilize AUTOMATICALLY.
What is the 3-position AUTO mode at Ford for ?
It's not really automatic in fact !

The Auto button you are referring to is on the screen, for trucks with Automatic Temperature Control. Each level affects the automatic fan speed. There are 3 levels indicated by the colored lines below "AUTO".

That's right, but why 3 speeds if it's supposed to be automatic, the speed is not managed automatically.

info from earlier thread + Bronco. But doesn't seem like ppl notice a change in fan speed. I wonder if software or FordScan ignores the level setting or was disabled? OK folks, can anyone notice a change in fan noise?

The 1-2-3 is a fan bias setting (for higher to lower fan speed bias).

Thanks Snowman3. I didnt see that post cause I dont follow the Raptor sections. Its weird because I hear no difference in the fan speed. Maybe its a placebo from Ford to make us think it is doing something!

I certainly hear a difference in the fan speed based on the "AUTO" button settings.

Perhaps try to lower the temperature setpoint to like 61 degrees (since it's summer and the algorithm would call for increased fan speed demand) and ensure you have dual zone enabled. Then test to see if you have any difference in fan speed based on the AUTO setting.

This is a great feature actually. On my '19 Ranger the auto setting always had the fan blowing at about the half-way point, so once the truck cabin cooled it would honestly be too much, but if I manually adjusted the fan downwards then it would take the system out of auto mode totally. By having the 3 settings I can control the fan speed better while letting the auto function keep the temperature correct. My '24 Ranger interior is so much more comfortable. Our '21 Explorer Limited was the first vehicle we had with the 3 settings.

Based on what I read in the past for other car that I had.. the 3 "auto" levels are associated to the speed the desired temperature is reached.

Let's say you set the temp to 39 and fan in 1, it will take a couple of mins to reach that temp
if you set the fan in 3, the fan and AC system temp will increase to reach out to the desired temp faster.
