So now in addition to the trailering software, we have an EGR valve that can fail:

NHTSA recall notice, approximately47,804 vehicles were recalled for a defective "exhaust gas recirculation valve," meaning that the cars may lose drive power if the valve stops working. Owners of the Ford vehicles impacted by the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve will receive interim letters on March 16. NHTSA officials added that additional letters will be distributed once a final remedy is available, which is anticipated in September 2026.

I'm surprised a class action lawsuit hasn't been started on all these recalls. This is crazy, isn't it? Or am I just old school in my thinking?

I don't mind recalls. Two of them are software over the air fixes.

It's problems that don't have recalls. Those I mind.

EGR valve fix sounds pretty easy to me.

I don't know why you would have a class action suit for problems that are fixed.

it also says 211, yes only 211 Ford Rangers are involved in the EGR valve issue

- 211 2025 Model Year Ranger vehicles are affected.

EGR... yeah that explains the couple of times I've tried to accelerate and gotten this sudden drop-out hesitation... last a second or two and then suddenly returns, but of course at that point I've floored it trying to do whatever acceleration thing I was trying to do! I could see how that would be dangerous given the right circumstance. If it happened again I was going to bring it in for service... now I see it's a pending recall. The internet suggests we will allegedly be getting letters in the next few days with a fix not expected till Sept 2026.

Meanwhile... I still love my Ranger... it's my favorite room in my house.

Luckily my truck was built in May 2025 and it seems like it's supposed to affect January-early April built Rangers.

it seems it should be a simple egr valve replacement. I wonder why it will take until September? Or I wonder if that is just a cya date.

You’re making quite a leap to connect the recalled egr to that behavior. And what’s more, the recall is for the 2.3l, not your 2.7, and it only affects 211 units.

Ours was one of the first ones that had the bad brake booster, you can read my thread about it. The dealer had it for 2 weeks, couldn't figure it out, we had a real problem with them so we're a bit more sensitive to more recalls. They told us Ford had no idea what the problem was, then a couple weeks after we got it back and the brakes were still iffy, the recall came out. And we have the 2.3L and production time would have been the first quarter, so here we go again. Very frustrating paying this much money for a new truck and having these problems. They do not have a fix for the EGR valve yet, estimated at Sept. We've spent a lot of our time at the dealership that shouldn't have happened if they did enough testing and quality control. All the manufacturers seem to be ok with sending vehicles out the door with issues that should have been caught. Seems like we should all get compensated for the time lost to take them into the dealership and wait and wait....(my thought for the lawsuit for compensation). It delayed our trip by a month last year. My background in the past was I.T. and if we let something go out with 'bugs' in it, we lost our jobs. Sorry for the rant. Hopefully the EGR will not affect us while we are driving until it gets fixed. And yes I love the truck still. She is Bad Ass Blue.

Ours was on the lot in May and the 2.3 so it is a good chance ours will be in the recall.
considering 10,000 were built during that time frame there is a good chance you will not be affected by the recall

about a 1/50 chance.

if it were me, I would wait until the fix is available using a ford mobile service tech

they would come to your house and make the repair

i had that done with the electronic brake booster recall and it took 15 minutes for the tech

Transport canada has it effecting 1.5, 2.0, 2.0 hybrid and the 2.3's. and when I go to ford Canada, ford says my vin is clear.

Voluntary recalls are subjectively better then mandated recalls. rather have Voluntary recalls then mandated. as long as either Voluntary or mandated are not stop use recalls... then they better have a loaner for me.

They won't come to our house, we live too far from any dealership. We'll cross our fingers and hope for the best!
