it’s power brakes and the power goes off

so go out and pump your brakes when the engine is off

that Is what it should feel like.

You can still stop as you can pump the brakes

i do not see anywhere in the brake recall that it mentions or alludes to squishy brakes

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2025/RCLRPT-25V488-4203.pdf

Description of the safety risk, including crash, fire, death, injury:

An unexpected loss of brake boost while driving can result in increased stopping distance, which

increases the risk of a crash. If a loss of boost occurs during an ADAS request for braking, this can

increase the risk of a crash.

the only time if had a vehicle that you pushed the brake pedal to the floor without resistance was when I didn’t bleed the brakes properly.
My brake pedal gets hard and doesn't move after 1-2 pumps after turning off the engine.

Anyone notice anything different after getting the brake booster software update?
No difference for me, but the recall noted that some drivers may have loss of boost pressure. So it's a blanket update for everyone to cover their bases. Most people would never experience the issue, but Ford is being safe about it.

Yeah, after the update I get a chirp behind the dash from the brake booster the first few times I let off the pedal, moving or stationary. A couple others on here have the same issue, and the ford dealers are not being helpful saying it’s “normal”

exactly

so that makes me wonder what is going on with people who can push it all the way down

it doesnt sound like a loss of power to the power brakes

but I could be wrong.

Having the brake pedal go hard and not being able to pump anymore after 3-5 pumps after the vehicle is off is normal. My 2022 Camaro did it along with many other cars I've owned.

On the main subject, I never had issues with my brake booster but I took the truck in last week to get the update done. Took about 15 mins. Couldn't tell or feel any difference than before. I'm still not a fan of the squishy brakes in this truck though. But I came from a Camaro so maybe my expectations on how brakes bite on a smaller midsize truck are not realistic. I just feel like it should have more stopping power early on.

I have not had the update but my brake booster sometimes works and sometime doesn't which causes me to have to apply more pressure to the brake pedal. I'm so used to it that I barely notice it and won't do the recall until my next service appointment.
Replying to myself here because I thought this might be pertinent to anyone with concerns about the brake booster recall. I had a notification on my instrument panel on my RR that an overnight update would occur that night or one in the immediate future.

I'm not absolutely positive but it seems like my issue has disappeared and I'll reply to myself here again if booster problems reappear.

It seems lke all my pro

My guess is Ford is pushing this out now as a OTA update to be sure it’s been fixed. I got the same update yesterday.

I’ve not experienced the breaking boost issue, so the truck behaves the same for me.

Same with every vehicle with hydraulic brakes...
