Yep. That’s correct. Over $2,000 damage to the truck.
If I were going to take my Ranger through a touch carwash, I’d get a stubby antenna for sure.

As it is, I mostly hand wash, with touchless as needed (especially in the winter, when it’s cold af).

I have gone through many of those drive through brush car washes with a stand off bug deflector on truckd and no issue. Just make sure thst its been on long enough that any tapes are cured or it will come off. The ranger avs one is held on with screws so it will be ok

Im getting older with a bad kndd and cant wash truck. as much as I want. Cold weather makes it even harder
The top would be difficult to reach also. I think I read
About someone on the forum that had a issue with damage to their truck from car wash
. I believe it was around the antennae.
.
I remove my antenna prior to entering the wash and fold in the side mirrors. No problems for me.

My truck got blessed with snowfall in a state with a lot of love for mag-chloride in its first week. Yesterday (as soon as the roads were completely dry, it got an autowash at a touchless place. No issues to report. Didn't need to fold the mirrors. The F250 ahead of me looked wider with them folded, so I gave it a shot.

i replaced my antenna with a 2inch stubby. Works fine. During the winter months I get an unlimited wash membership. I’ve had no problems so far. My ranger is azure gray. I’ve not noticed any swirl marks like I did with my black 22.
But definitely replace the antenna with a stubby 👍

I go through a touchless wash each week when it’s too cold to wash it myself.

as for the stubby antennae, I get why they’re popular (not really; I’m being kind) but if you actually listen to the radio then avoid them. I can’t tell the difference where I live between a stubby antenna and no antenna.

I believe there were 2 trucks that had antennae issues in auto car wash, or only 1? I do listen to.my radio. Im older and have leg and knee issues. Its very difficult for me to get to the antennae to remove it. So I guess I just take the chance on auto car wash with the original antennae? Do most people fold their mirrors in ?

I go through a car wash almost once a week. I have the stubby antennae, Aeroskin Husky hood deflector, and fold my mirrors in. No issues at all. My Ranger XLT is dark grey...no swirls. But it is less than a year old and I put graphene (do it yourself, not professional) on it about 3 or 4 months ago. Looks great so far.

I can't find my original reviews on the Husky aeroskin hood deflector. I really like the way it looks. But I'm not sure about the bug protection I claimed it had. Maybe less bugs now? But I think there were less bugs in winter months than now? Not sure, I'm no bug expert. I still like the quality and fit of the deflector. And the 3M tape has held it in place for going on 10K miles and many washes.

I still have the factory antenna that I remove each time before going through the soft touch wash. It's nice having the power folding mirrors too. Just the push of a button and they fold in for protection. I have gone through several soft touch washes now on my 25 RR without any incidents.

As long as you do touchless then you're good. Those spining brushes that touch your car cause swirls/etc. I'd advoid those if possible.

I use the spinning brushes all the time.
It's the only way to get all the dirty slurry off we get from road salt and such.
With the white paint I haven't noticed any swirling.
