Anyone do a transmission fluid and filter change on the 24+ ?

I have not found a great video, several videos of gen 5.

It looks a little intimidating, Dealer quoted me "about 4300" when I called, so I am expecting $400.

Im prepping for a long tow of a decent size camper so I want to get a fluid change done before that.

Secondary question is I could do a flush at a quick lube place that has the machine that forces the full amount in of new fluid, used them before, but it doesnt include a filter replacement. Opinions on that?

Dealer quoted $4300, and you're expecting $400? I assume $4300 was a typo.

I've seen the service process as outline in the service manual, it's not too bad sounding as long as you have a way to fill (a "hook" shaped hose to pump fluid up and into the up-facing hole. You'd need a scan tool to measure fluid temp if you want to be precise about the fill but I think you could warm it up good and check the level and be fine....or measure what comes out and replace with same.

I do not recommend a fluid flush, drain and refill yes, $4300 does seem a bit high for a tranny fluid and filter change, I also recommend checking with reputable independent shops that specializes in Ford vehicles.

I have don't it. Also added a deep pan while doing it.
Its not that hard. Hardest part is checking fluid temps when its hot and not burning your hand or arm.

10R60 / 10R80 same procedure - watch any YouTube Video () . I also upgraded to a deep transmission pan and used Amsoil ULV ATF. I followed the cold procedure 38:30 mark on this video for a 10R80 (). I actually noted where the original factory fill measured cold on the dipstick. Which was were it was on the dipstick in the video so when I refilled I filled to the same level - started it ran it through the gears (didn't let it get hot) and rechecked the level, needed to add a little. I confirmed with Amsoil that ULV has the same expansion rate as Ford Mercon ULV.

At $400, I'd 100% have the dealer do it. $400 is not that much and there's too much risk on not refilling it correctly. If the dealer does it and it's wrong, you've got recourse to have things fixed. If you do it, even if its correct, you run the risk of Ford not honoring the warranty (and I don't really blame them. I wouldn't honor warranties where I didn't do the work).

I will confirm the price with the dealer, $4300 sounds like a transmission rebuild price, not a drain and refill price.

I have a lot of other upgrades to do so I am leaning towards dealer or transmission shop doing it.
