I need to replace my interior fuse box, the one above the driver's left leg. As I understand the fuse box is actually the BCM, but I am not 100% on that. I found the part and would like to order it. Here is the part I found: BCM part . The problem is that one of the fuses is not sitting properly and it is connecting on and off. Instead of trying to mess with trying to fix the connectors, etc., I would rather just buy a new part.

What I am wondering is, what does it take to install this. Is this something that I can pull a file from Motorcraft service and Forscan it to the new module? I know I know I need to order the part with a VIN specifically, but I don't want to pay my dealer $2K just to install it.

If anyone can help me here, I would much appreciate it. If I can't install and have to take it to the dealer, then so be it and FML. However I would very much like to avoid that kind of ridiculous expense for them to just run a program.

As luck would have it I am 2K miles outside of warranty. If this had happened 1 month ago before my road trip, that is what I would be doing.

Have you asked the dealership about it? That is so close they may goodwill it for you

This is why I believe in extended warranties.
Dr. Google says:
A new OEM Body Control Module (BCM) for a 2024 Ford Ranger Lariat costs between $220 and $370 for the part alone. Factoring in dealership programming and labor, total costs typically range from $450 to $650+. Used BCMs are available for $200 to $250, though these still require professional programming.

Personally, I would try and repair the connection. Might be easy!

I wouldn't think forscan could integrate it, dealer service has different equipment for programming stuff like that. For example if you add a door touchpad, you can't program it with forscan, a dealer has to do it.

How do you know it's just a fuse holder problem?

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I know it is just the fuse because if I wiggle it, things work again. I was able to bend the fuse prods enough to get it to stay and get things working. I also successfully tried to kind of fix it, but I still want to get a new BCM. I hate things that are "rigged" as I can see from off roading how this will become a problem again.

I don't much care about spending $500, 6, 7 or whatever, luckily it does not amount to much for me. But what I can't stand is going to the local shitty dealer and paying $2000 for them to fix it. That is outrageous, and while $2K is still not a lot of money to me, it is the principle. The dealer here is a crappy dealer. They won't good will it, I tried that route. And they charge ridiculous amounts. I asked why are you selling the same part for double of everyone else. The answer was that their prices are on a sliding scale based on demand. They are charging $490 for the part, when MSRP is only $409.

I will call some other dealers around and see what they say, but they are all rather far away. I will probably buy the part and go to a different dealer who will just charge for programming. The part is on backorder with no ETA, so luckily I got it working for now. It is the fuse for the upfitter switches, so super annoying not to have my light bars, ditch lights, Starlink, and bed shower not working.

Bed shower? That's a thing?

I built a portable 15 gallon shower in the front of the bed to hose off my dogs every time I take them to the lake or anywhere else muddy.

Call Ford Direct Tech Hotline and work them to get it covered - this should be a no-charge fix to you. 800.367.3788

I bought the tank, pump, hoses, etc. Then I ran the power from Aux 2 (I think if I remember correctly) from the aux wire near the hitch. Wired to a switch in the bed to turn on and off from there.

I think it might be fixed. It would need to be pulled out of the car, and inspected by dissasembling. Maybe without the plastic shell you could bend back the female pins of the offender so it makes good contact.

Or with a female hair pin (hardened steel) you could pull back the female pin contacts towards the center.

Its a work for an old electrical guy. Those guys are QUITE experienced on those issues.
