Tried using the power plug first time today. Plugged a circular saw in. Would run a second or so and stop. Pulled trigger same thing. Ran then stopped. Plugged in a small fan. No issues? You would think you could run a power tool off the bed outlet? WTF???
What do you expect from only 400 watts? Do yourself a favor and get cordless tools and use the 400 watt inverter to charge the batteries.

I wonder if you could have a three or four battery bank and leave plugged in all the time to keep them charged?
Would that work? If so, I could see a lot of utility out of that kind of a setup.

I use a snap on 3 bank charger with mine. But I don’t leave it plugged in while not in use. I only use it when needed.

That's what I determined. The outlet is best suited to charging cordless batteries.

There are a number of great cordless tools you can use these days; even area lights and fans.

You can get pretty comfortable at a camp site with an M18 setup or similar. 🤣

What baffles me is why manufacturers don't just use larger inverters.

This vehicle is perfectly capable of higher output.
I doubt this is a good idea, or at least not cheap if done right. An inverter isn't very efficient in converting DC to AC, and generates a fair amount of heat in doing so. It would have to be mounted in a location that's well-ventilated yet protected from the elements. Then there's the issue of battery capacity, and the risk of running down the only battery in our ranger. So should that just be a massive battery for the capacity? It can still leave you walking if it's run down, so then maybe a large supplemental battery? Where would that go? Lastly, the alternator will have to be larger to quickly recharge the run-down accessory battery, so that robs power and efficiency from the engine, and does so constantly.

Accommodating a high-wattage/ high amp hour outlet can certainly be done as we know; it's done in other vehicles. But it wouldn't be cheap or even something most of us would want to live with on a regular basis. Would you be willing to pay $1000 or more for the option of a higher alternator, secondary battery, and bigger inverter? There are already plenty of folks complaining about the cost of our mid-sized trucks in general, so adding something like this as standard equipment would fly like a lead balloon.

I’ve used a dewalt table saw and a circular saw on mine without any issues. I use a 2500# winch almost every weekend to pull a fully loaded fishing kayak up a steep embankment and it’s worked great. Maybe check the fuse to see if it’s lighter than required.

Maybe raptor is bigger? But as shown above it's clearly stated in the manual.

It seems that every time you come here looking for advice, you end up flaming those that offer it.
You're a different kind of cat.

Just like you. But I find smart ass comments to be unnecessary. Telling someone to use battery operated tools rather then what my post asked itls a useless comments.

It will only handle about 3 amps. I am will to guess your circular saw would be more than that.

If you had a cordless 20V tool, could you use the outlet to charge the battery or is that too much?

Agree. I just never research the plug prior to trying it. But now I know. Not as functional as I thought but still cool to have. Thanks

I believe so as it draws little power to trickle charged a battery pack. I might experiment.
