Noticed some black residue on my exhaust today. It’s just on the ends there’s not really any further inside the pipe that I can see. A few weeks ago I did notice the exhaust smelled a little gasoline-y but I havnt noticed it lately. Too rich of fuel mixture or is this normal? I havnt noticed a decrease in performance or mileage

This seems typical for these trucks. Mine gets it too, and I've seen several member photos of their trucks with a little black residue on the bottom of the exhaust tips.

I wash my truck enough that all I've had to do is use a little quick detail spray on a microfiber towel and wiped it right off.

Turbo engines put out a wee bit of soot. My GTI does the same thing and its got pretty chrome exhaust tips. I gave up on keeping those clean.

All GDI motors do this. They run extremely rich on initial startup.

I pressure wash it to clean it a little when washing my truck but I figured it's normal.

When I was cleaning the tips on my GTI I would use a metal polish.
