Bronco Pickup could kill the Ranger?!?!

Speculation, but if it kills the Ranger here in NA, it strikes me as a typical boneheaded move from Ford.

I don't believe this paragraph at all. If the Ranger is not selling well, it's because Ford doesn't advertise it. Every damn Ford commercial omits the Ranger.

I don't believe this paragraph at all. If the Ranger is not selling well, it's because Ford doesn't advertise it. Every damn Ford commercial omits the Ranger.

Not sure its survival matters whether the cause was a lack of effort or something in the size/design. Personally, I find the F-Series too large, the Maverick too small, the Ranger, just about right. But, at least by the sales numbers, this POV is in the minority.

Car and Driver, btw, has a slightly different take which suggests that the Ranger would soldier on...

As for Ranger numbers. Every dealer I checked had 1, MAYBE 2 Rangers, 50 - 60 F150s, and 10 -15 Broncos and Mavericks. Rangers 'fly off the shelf' as soon as they get them, and that's without ads. So, if Ranger sales are low, it's Ford's fault for not making more of them.
Rangers were very popular with service companies, but Maverick stole that slot.

Build them both! You can’t take the doors & the top off the Ranger. There are those people where that’s a priority or at least a Major purchase factor. Let’s give those customers a Ford option, something other than just a Jeep product.
You gotta look at like The Bronco nameplate becoming its own platform within Ford. Yes it’s under the Ford umbrella but it’s its own subset of vehicles under that familiar Bronco nameplate. Not just one vehicle with 2 or 4 doors, but different variants of that platform(s) such as the truck or bigger & smaller versions such as the already Bronco Sport…..maybe someday they’d give us a Bronco Excursion okay, okay Bronco Expedition, HA! Or a Bronco Falcon van (okay now I’m WAY out there!) Doubt it, but that’s the possibilities that can lead to when you open up the Bronco name to becoming its own series of vehicles.

Much like what I think Ford is thinking about doing with the Mustang and I say why not do it there too. I think the renderings of the 4 door Mustang look badass and in my mid 50’s THAT’S THE Mustang that the wife & I would actually consider putting in the stable. I think it gorgeous. A grand tourer that’s 5.0 Mustang based…..uhhh, Yes Please! Everybody freaked out when they put the Mustang name on the Mach E “how dare they” & “total garbage” but I see what Ford was already setting in motion here. A subset branding platform for the Mustang nameplate. Now comes along the notion of a 4 door. I think it’s brilliant!
The Bronco & The Mustang names are heavy hitters! Why not give customers that might be looking at other products an opportunity to buy under those nameplates, a vehicle type that might better fit what they’re looking for other than just the couple choices under those badges now? Just my 2 cents..,,,,

The leaks we saw last month said that this Bronco truck would be coming (along with a "Maverick Van", which also got announced) and Ford was going to launch a "F-100" truck at the Tennessee Truck Plant that would be closer to a "super duty" ranger.

So far all the leaks seem to be coming true except for the F-100 announcement. Time will tell.

Production of the Ford Ranger at the Michigan Assembly Plant (MAP) will be terminated (timeline unknown).

1. The TTP (formerly called Blue Oval City) was originally intended to build the second generation of the F-150 Lightning which was cancelled.

3. The F-100 will likely be produced/branded/marketed under the F-Series umbrella (no longer a red headed step child).

Correct. MAP also will build a Lincoln version of the Bronco and MAP becomes 100% Bronco centric. TTP reincarnates the Ranger but it will be branded the F-100 under F-Series.

Yes, I think Ford has put an excellent plan together. There will be something for all of us. However, I think the F-100 name will be used for North America only. For ROW, Ranger will continue to be branded as Ranger. After all, F-Series is almost completely a North America brand.
