Oh, I agree. There's enough embarrassment to go around for all the manufacturers these days. Maybe starting Jan 20th they will stop wasting money on EVs that no one wants and concentrate on the consumer once again.

I actually wouldn't mind having an EV, and even tossed the idea around of turning one of my cars into one.

Well, I won't support child labor and slave labor in the mines in China and Africa so even if EVs didn't turn into Roman candles without warning, I wouldn't buy one.

Guess you don't have a cellphone. That's dedication.

Deflection?
No. The main reasons you list for not liking EVs are due to how the lithium in their batteries is extracted and processed. So logically, if you don't like Roman candles created by child and slave labor, you obviously don't use any modern electronic devices that use lithium batteries either, right? That's dedication to a cause.

Gotta start somewhere. So why not with the biggest offender that makes the biggest difference in lives. There are many minor more ethical sources for the far smaller amounts of lithium to sustain small devices. We have those mineral here, but those areas have been put off limits. In addition, digging up half a million pounds of Earth for just one car battery, burning diesel fuel in all that heavy equipment spewing soot into the air, lithium leech fields that kill any animal that touches it, is not environmentally sound. Just like using coal fired power plants to charge up those "emission free" EVs just so the delusional end user can drive around with his nose in the air thinking he's saving the World. The hypocrisy of the EV scam knows no bounds.
