Nothing to do with quality improvements. It so they can say 'Assembled in USA' (from foreign made parts), save on a bit of tariffs and pocket that money. I doubt that they will pass on any savings.
And as soon as the next Pres comes in, removes all tariffs, it's back to Mexico.
Years ago, I saw an episode of "How Its's Made". They were showing the Dodge Charger and Challenger. Most parts were made in Mexico, then shipped by train to Canada for assembly, then sold in the US. Imagine that. It was cheaper to do it that way than just assemble it here in the US.
