I feel like you guys are good buying from them. The name sounded familiar so I was searching their site and at the bottom, it says "distributed by just4jeeps.com" so I followed it and I see a website I have been on for jeep stuff.

Brown Davis is a major manufacturer of truck accessories in Australia. I would have no qualms dealing with them.
I checked with them they are currently taking pre-orders for tanks here in the US and have a shipment leaving from Australia soon. They are about 1k cheaper than the long range America tanks but they are also made of polymer.

Interesting on polymer vs. steel - I'd be a little worried if there was not skid plate protecting it on a RR. If I had a base Ranger and/or wasn't doing Raptor things, I wouldn't care.

But also - I presume it's a lot lighter...

Hang on - where do you see polymer? The website refers to steel construction.

I actually wanted a Polly tank. But never did find a gas Polly tank for the RR that was US spec.
If it is polly and ok for use in the US, I may have to finally get one of these.

It sure looks like Brown Davis uses steel:

What I really want is a ~30 gallon poly tank that doesn't hang down quite as far as these Aussie LR overland tanks. Getting 50% more range would be good enough for me.

Raptor was only steel when I reached out to them previously. Poly was for diesel and 2.3L. And after getting under the truck, I don't think the aftermarket tank is any lower than the factory tank. It looks like it in photos, but that's because it's longer. Sort of an optical illusion.

The fact they now have a poly tank for the 2.3 is pretty fascinating. Albeit for the hybrid, but I’m pretty sure it’s the same 2.3 MPC motor we get in North America.

And if it fits the 2.3, does the 2.7 use a different tank? 🤔

Edit: seems both use the same MB3Z-9002-J Fuel Tank Assembly. At least according to fordpartsgiant.com. Oh the possibilities…

I would think that tank would need testing and approval for sale in the U.S., that it is safe in an accident. Anyone remember the Ford Pinto? and what happened if the car got in an accident?

So I reached out to them today, less than 8 hrs later they responded, here is what they said and it makes me think that there won’t be a poly tank for us gasoline guzzlers…

The Brown Davis tank to suit the Ranger Raptor (FRAP22R1) is a steel tank. We used 2-mil aluminized steel, which is not suited for poly because the Ranger Raptor is a Gas/Petrol variant that reacts negatively to that material. Steel is also a better option since it allows us to add baffles to the tank, a swirl pot, and a drain plug that can't be added to poly tanks.

I appreciate their quick response and I will definitely be ordering from them at some point since they kindly sent their mounting instructions for me to review and drool over… my hope is that it’s possible to order it and have it arrive and install it before the Raptor rally in October because the road trip from HTX would require a lot more fuel stops without it….
