What's up people! Have my first RR service at the dealership coming up and not sure I want to bring it to them lol. Did my first oil change myself and not a fan of having the dealerships touching my Vehicle's unless it's warranty issue. Is it important to bring it in seeing a got her NEW? Just thinking they need service it for the first time might be important, what you guys that got there RR new did you bring them it in for the first service?

Dino,I have yet to bring my '24 Lariat into the dealer for servicing for the same reasons. I have completed two oil changes making sure the oil met Ford's spec and used a Motorcraft filter. I documented it in my FordApp and kept receipts. On previous new cars of mine I did bring them in because there usually was a vehicle software update. But now with the over air updates that's not really an issue for us.

I have a dilemma on taking my new Ranger to the dealership for the first oil change but think I will do it. The dealership has good people working in the service dept but I have liked to do my own oil changes as then use full synthetic Valvoline oil but access to the oil filter on the 2.3 engines is difficult. It seems that the initial removal of the oil filter is made even more difficult as it's always tighter than normal.

Do it yourself and log in Ford App. I also take pics of the receipt, oil, and oil filter for documentation if ever needed.

Where in the app are you able to add service work records? I've looked everywhere in the app . No can find.

You can add items under service history

Dino,

I scheduled my performance cal and oil change with my dealer. I changed my oil at 1,000 miles, not recommended but as a precautionary move. They asked me if I wanted to go to full synthetic and I told them to put in what is recommended by Ford.

Never let dealers touch your vehicle unless it's a warranty. Change the oil regularly, flush the coolant and change diff once in awhile...drive it like you stole it.

Nah, I'm too busy to it myself, so I take it to the Ford dealer I trust.
$80 for oil, filter, top off coolant and wiper fluids, and rotate tire. Sometimes they'll have a special for $50. In and out in 45 minutes with an appointment. It would take me longer than that, and cost almost as much, then I have to go to a place to dispose of used oil. At my age, my time is more valuable, so I let them do it.

I took it to have them give it a look over and rotate the tires, but did not have them change the oil. I also do that myself and it's something easy enough to do myself to ensure it's done the way I like, with the oil I like and at the frequency I like.

There is a benefit to at least having your truck in their system and somewhat of a relationship in case something does go wrong.

I use the dealership to do the oil changes so everything is documented. I did my first oil change on both RR and Bronco sport at 800 miles - used the synthetic blend on the RR and Mobil 1 full synthetic on the bronco. I will change oil every 5,000 and will use Mobil 1 on both - so my next oil change will be when the get to 5,000 miles - this is cheap insurance and better for the turbo charges.

I bought a maintenance package from my local Ford Dealer where I got my truck. $1295 one time fee for lifetime oil changes and tire rotations every 5k miles, plus an annual full wash/wax detail. It also includes some sort of engine guarantee. There a few other perks as well....roadside assistance, loaners for overnight repair, etc. But just for the oil changes and annual detail, for a vehicle I plan to keep 10+ years, it was a mathematical no brainer. It'll pay for itself in 3ish years and then it's gravy for as long as I keep it. Also, I've had very good experiences with this dealer and their service has been very good....they also have a location 5 minutes away.
