Why is it that a Ranger V6 has a single exhaust that does it no justice, yet a fake truck like a Honda Ridgeline has dual exhaust? Even the brother vehicle the Everest has dual exhaust. Come on Ford, no reason whatsoever to have single exhaust on these trucks! Even if you made it an option!

My guess is that they designed the single exhaust well enough that adding the extra weight/complexity of dual exhaust would not be cost effective. There may be a small gain possible and there are plenty of shops that would do it but if all someone wants is the image, a Y connector running back into two pipes would be much cheaper.

Had a friend who bought the Honda CB750 early on (circa 1970) and after putting 20K miles or so on it he tore it apart, had it bored to 810cc and went the other way by putting a set of tuned 4-into-1's on it. Thing was a monster at the time, looked great! and I don't remember any of us (or hearing of anyone) being able to catch him.

Could have easily made it an option then

Could have like on the F150 BAP package. Easy fix at a muffler shop, Borla one in two out muffler and have it sound as you wish, or go all the way and do a cat back.

I have the 2.7L with the single exhaust. I'm not against the single exhaust as much as the absurd size of the muffler and resonators.

Why? So you can buy after market catback duals like Borla.

The Everest also has a single exhaust. The only dual exhaust is on the Raptor. This seems logical to me. The amount of Ranger and Everest on the roads over here it would be a total nightmare if they all sounded like a Raptor. The Ranger is a work truck. Everest is an everyday lifestyle SUV. A quiet exhaust is what most people want

also note the Ranger and Everest were designed with diesel engines. The Everest only comes with a diesel engine - there are no petrol option as there’s no Everest Raptor (yet). So a single exhaust makes perfect sense

Stand corrected on the Everest.

I had a new 2017 Ridgeline for 3 years. It was one of the most capable and comfortable vehicles I've owned. Did all manner of truck things. Hauling dirtbikes, my 1190R adventure, tons of mulch, ran to the dump every other week, carried sheets of plywood, drywall, held my tools, guns, friends, hockey gear, etc. If they made it look a bit more aggressive, I'd have bought another one.

I don't believe I have ever bought anything with tires under it and been happy with the exhaust that came from the factory. I now have 3,000 miles on my 2.7 with the Borla and could not be happier. Hearing every shift and RPM is like music to my ears. I suggest just investing in the Borla in leu of trying to understand why Ford............

It likely doesn't have a dual exhaust because it doesn't *NEED* a dual exhaust.

Profit... Ford said no we'll save the materials and money. Honda said we'll up charge because it makes it look sporty.

Borla or MBRP? Both sound good. Does the Borla drone at all? The Borla also has so many parts I'm sure install is harder? The MBRP looks to be one piece? I know they are very different. Borla has two pipes all the way which I'm sure is the cost difference. But I do like a true dual exhaust one on both sides like the RR.
