Hey there guys. Waiting on my Ford Ranger order and as I'm reading through the manual, I'm realizing there are a lot of things I don't like about modern cars like our Fords that I want to change. Many of these things I've read posts on here about being able to change things using FORScan. Some of the things I want to change include:

  • Turning off Auto Start/Stop
  • Remembering last saved headlight position (stopping the auto-headlights every ignition cycle)
  • Turning off seatbelt chime
But I have so many questions.

  1. Is there any step by step guide on how to get setup? I see so many posts and youtube videos talking about it but it all seems a bit beyond me and makes me nervous playing around with things without detailed instructions
  2. If I screw something up in FORScan, can it be reverted easily? Or would the truck need taken to a dealer?
  3. Does FORScan void the warranty? Can Ford tell if I changed something and know it was me? Do they care?
  4. In regards to turning off Auto Start/Stop... I saw in the FORScan megapost, under this line it states '(every time you switch the ignition on.)': What does this mean? Does using FORScan to turn this off do anything different than using one of the plug in eliminators? Does it turn a warning light on at all?
  5. Can any of the annoying radar features be turned off with FORScan? Thinking Lane Assist, Emergency Braking, etc...

Thanks guys for the advice!

Try giving this a watch:

However, auto start/stop can’t be disabled from Forscan. You need the start/stop eliminator. Disabling Seat belt chimes may effect airbag deployment (not confirmed yet)

Please take care when using Forscan as it can quickly go wrong. Always make backups before starting

Thanks for replying. Crazy because in the FORDScan spreadsheet on this forum, it's in the Confirmed section...

Makes me nervous - if that one doesn't work how do I know other ones won't screw my system up?

Thinking I should just buy the Eliminator and live with the truck for a few months first.

seat belt chime is in the owners manual(dont thinknits in the quick start manual thats like 60pages. but its in the full 600-700 full owners manual you can download for free from www.motorcraftservice.com. aswell as purchasing access(72hrs, week, month, and year access i think. 72hrs is 20bucks) to the ford diagnostic system, wiring diagrams, etc.) give you instructions how to turn off the chime for driver, and passenger belts. you still get the display you can okay out of. but the chime is gone.

it is tricky to do, but I was able to get it after a few tries.

my 2012 escape, and my 2008 ranger both told ya how to disable the chime. and so does my 2025 ranger

Thanks so much! I didnt realize the manual would actually tell you how. On other cars I've had, there were secret dealer tricks to disable it.

I'd love to get the full manual but would want to purchase it for life... Too bad you can't

Maybe it has been confirmed since I last checked?

The eliminator is a must - super easy to install and it’s set once and forget.

I’ve made a few Forscan changes to mine and it worked perfectly (auto door lock, lane centring memory and a few other minor tweaks). I followed the video and all was smooth! Don’t be scared to use it, just be cautions and take your time. Maybe drive the car for a few months first and see what you want to do before diving in

Awesome! Speaking of lane centering, can we not turn that off permanently? Does it also turn back on every key cycle?

If so I definitely need to get forscan for that alone! Thanks again

You can adjust thr lane centering on tour center screen under vehicle, i think. Set it to the minimum setting and then it doesnt fight you all the time or do any weird stuff

As mentioned, start/stop can only be done “cleanly” by purchasing the eliminator.
All other annoyances can be completed in Forscan…..follow the spreadsheets!
Also, most importantly, back up all your modules BEFORE making any changes!!
Search here for Livinitup’s Forscan Tutorial.
I’ll try to attach it here!!
