Ford Ranger Fumoto oil drain valve installed 1000005661
My son installed a new Fumoto oil drain valve for me.
Going to make oil changes much easier and less messy.
Points down and slightly forward. Keeps the oil away from the cross member and allows for a 3/8" hose. Might drain a bit slower but that's Ok.
Plenty of clearance to the skid plate.
2024 XLT FX4 2.3L.

I had one on my '19 ranger with the nipple for a drain hose. I'd put the hose right in a container and reach up and turn the valve, no skid plate removal. I'd just roll the hose up and lay it on the skid plate between changes.

I'll have to look.
Not sure I can access the valve on a 2024 without removing the plate.

I had one for my previous truck and was afraid to install it. The one I had didn’t have the plastic clip like the one in your picture. I’m asuming it’s a lock of sorts to prevent the valve from accidentally opening. I was always afraid that if I installed it and a stick somehow got pushed up, that it would drain my oil when I was 100 miles from home out in the sticks. Perhaps I was overly paranoid, but Murphy always comes knocking when you don’t expect him to.

I never used the plastic clip. The valve was up where nothing would hit it. I did stick a bolt in the rubber drain tube I kept attached in case it leaked. I figured I'd see a stain on the garage floor if it did. I never had oil come out of the drain tube before opening the valve.

The locking clip is to lock the valve and is a pretty tight fit. Even without the locking clip in place you have to lift the spring loaded lever out of a detent in order to rotate to open.
It's well protected under the skid plate.
No skid plate, I would be concerned it might break off if impacted.

Have one on my Toyota truck and its been great, put one on girlfriends Honda Accord, she went over a curb and snapped it off, fortunately she saw the oil coming out and got towed to a shop.

I put them on every vehicle I can. Too bad they don't fit the 2.7l (had to get the Ronin)

My son had mentioned his 2.7l Bronco has the plastic pan so can't use the Fumoto.

Yup. The Ronin is nice, but having to have another piece separate from the assembly is kinda meh.

This is the option I've been using on my truck since the first oil change. No other piece required. And the cost is much better.

Drain valve.

Same here,, had one on my Honda for 10 years before I sold it and it never leaked. I had the one with the barbed coupler end so I attached a clear vinyl hose to it whenever I changed my oil.

Speaking of changing oil, do any of you all utilize the maintenance plan and get your oil changed at the dealership? I'm thinking of only using them when I don't have time myself to do it, but I typically take care of preventative maintenance like that on my own.
