I just stopped looking at mileage. My 2014 Silverado LT 4x4 with E85 option got better mileage than my 2024 XLT FX4. Obviously, when I used E 85 it got less mileage, but it was a heck of a lot cheaper! I had to remind myself that I’ve never bought a truck, big or small for the mileage.

I purchased my truck in February. Overall, I like, but don’t love the Ranger. I have no mods thus far because I wanted to get to know it in the stock version first.

Now that I know it, I’m looking to trade it in and go back to a full size. Nice experiment though!
Wow, that’s rough! Sorry to hear about your issues with fuel efficiency.
Since I started using eco mode religiously, mileage has been around 21mpg for mostly city driving. Not bad for a midsize truck.
Overall, I LOVE the ranger so far, but it’s my first truck so I don’t have anything to compare it to. I switched from a sedan, so definitely a step (or a couple) up! ?

retired with a home hobby, casting hard to find parts for muscle cars and vintage old toys, etc.
Yeah, I gotta stop thinking about the mileage. Thats not why I buy my vehicles (heck, I've had 3 Vettes, and 2 kit Cobras so why should I care about gas???) Hope you get the one you love.

Some people are happier in a full size. I had a beautiful full size crew cab but every time i drove it, all i could think about was the terrible gas mileage. It was super comfortable and fast but who cares if all you think about is bad gas mileage. People would stop me and lights and at the gas station and comment on the truck but the gas mileage just bothered me.

The ranger is great to me but i have loved the ranger line since it first became a midsize and my grandpa took me and my sister places in his in the late 80s.

In approx. 7500 miles I have never gotten past 22.4.
Not a lead foot, live in hill country, and some highway miles.
I do have a Softopper so that might affect it some.
4000 mile round trip mostly highway TN to CA averaged around 20-21. Had wind and dust storms.
Gas milage bothered me more when I lived in California at $5+a gallon.

25 lariat 4x4 First tank was 19.3 but calculated was 21.

the first 15 miles or so through city was terrible gas mileage.

I’m sitting at 19.3 for my second tank which is mostly short trips aka city driving

watching the instant gas mileage gauge I believe that freeway driving is I think is going to easily meet the 26 mpg rating.

I wonder if tire pressure, accessories, gasoline can be the reason for such wide variation in mpg?

Main thing is your driving habits, city driving, short trips.

I’ve been religiously keeping it in eco and getting 20 with mostly city driving. Default normal drops it to 19.

Did a 415 mile round trip in my 24 ranger raptor this week. The trip was going from to sea level to the mountains (2000ft elevation) and then back. The truck said it got 20.8 mpg and doing math at the pumps showed 20.6mpg. Pretty happy with that. Was doing 70-80mpg 80% of the time. 20% was 45-55 along mountain roads.

I just finished a 2850 mile trip to the Pacific Northwest on my 24 2.3 FX4. 1/3 of the time was 65 to 70mph 1/3 was 75 to 80 and the last third was 85mph. I live in southern Utah. never reset my MPG meter as to see the overall mileage for the trip. 24.1 MPG's. Truck now has 7200 miles on it. First oil change done just before the trip. Full syn..

My truck only has 1000 miles on it. Had 2 fill ups so far. My first fill up was 24.8 mpg and my 2nd fill up was yesterday and got an even 25. Both calculations done the manual way for accuracy. The computer on the truck is always optimistic.

25.7 on a trip is the best I’ve seen yet. Not quite 4k miles on my 2.3 fx4. Hilly terrain, windy roads, small passes, but pretty decent.

Over Christmas, I drove from Denver, CO to Tupelo, MS. Over all averaged about 22 mpg. Including minimal driving around for 5 days. It's about 1200 miles each way.
