I have always wondered just how far away I am from what the rear camera is warning me about.
Green/Yellow/Red... okay, but what is the actual distance?

I actually measured from the receiver, since that is what will contact first.

The first lines are the green ones:

Distance to the receiver: 5.5 feet

Now the Yellow lines.

Distance to the receiver 3 feet.

Then we get to the Red lines.

Not useless… interesting. I’ll promptly forget, but thanks for making the effort!
When you puncture a square hole into something, you will promptly remember.

Thanks for that info, it is useful and I had not measured it yet. I will try and remember it by 6-3-1.

I will add that when the beeping turns solid you are a foot away from an obstacle, which is too much IMHO, I wish it would not turn solid till you are 4-6" away. My Superduty didn't turn solid till about 4" and it was handy for the tight quarters I have on my property. When it turns solid at a foot, you have no idea how much more you have because the tone is solid from 1 foot to zero, so that is essentially a blind guess zone.

I also figured, as near as I can tell, that the dotted lines on the sides of the 360 bird's eye view are about 12" from the stock tires.

Interesting to see this measure. Now I wonder if its the same with all Ford models. Would someone be able to test with another Ford vehicle and see if the measurements are close to the same?

I did the same on my 2024 Bronco... same distances from the rear mounted spare.

An easy wat to remeber is the first one is 6ft (about), then halve it , (3ft), then halve it again (18in), not precise but easy to remeber.

interesting how brains work!. i count down by 2; 5-3-1. real distance is a bit bigger, gives some wiggle room.

Thanks OP! how close till the brakes come on and stop the back up? (If you trust it). I'm not 100% sure, but i thought it would slam on brakes last second before hit wall. Anyone know if that true? Maybe speed dependent?

I don't think the brakes will come on if you are going slow, I think that only works at higher speeds but I could be wrong
