Yes, just match the input/outputs and make sure your using the schematic OP posted to connect.NICE! Was installation pretty straightforward?
The one i got was quite bulky with the extended cable to zip tie and mount up out of the way. It does fit all bundled up, but if you want to look into similar trailer light converter harness that is LED compatible, with less connector length, it would probably be easier and fit better.Awesome, going to get one tomorrow. Thanks
That’s fantastic!HUZAAH
Reference post #43, used an LED compatible trailer light converter, basically a harness you can use to connect the light bar to the tail light connectors underneath the bed. The converter combines the brake and turn signal into 1 line without feedback to rest of system. That’s fantastic!
How did you do it?
Would love to get mine wired and working.
Go to the very beginning of this thread. Nick has the wiring diagrams and where you need to tap into the harness. One thing that confused me was the need for a harness that matches the plug on the OPT7. It is a standard trailer plug that is the opposite of the plug on the OPT7. However a standard plug will get you all the functions except brake lights. If you buy the adapter I pictured in my last post, it gets you plug you need and an adapter that allows for all the lights to work.I have an opt7 tailgate light bar i need to figure out how to hook up. Its got a flat 4 plug in it and a white wire that appears to go to something. I plugged in the flat plug that goes to the trailer plug and the red line of leds works but the other two dont light up, not matter whay i do.
There site says the white plug goes to an aux power source. Its a long whitw wire so maybe to the fuse box or battery?
Also I pulled and consolidated the discoveries and info in this thread into a DIY write up. There's only 5 in the DIYs, look for the lightbar one.I have an opt7 tailgate light bar i need to figure out how to hook up. Hi,I know a bunch of people have wanted to do this on their rangers but with out a plug and play option out there it’s difficult. If you use the 4 wire plug at the hitch the truck freaks out and thinks a trailer is attached, gives faults for trailer tail lights not working and disables the blind spot/ cross traffic system.
I was able to get my hands on the wiring diagrams from a friend that works at a shop so I could hard wire into the tail lamp harness. If you plan on doing this modification you will find if you pull the tail lamps the harness to them is no help. All the wiring to the lamps is black wires. You need to get under the rear and out each outside of the hitch you will find a harness the you can follow up to the tail lamps I tapped in to this harness
i have attached photos of the harness diagram. Hope this helps you all out.
