I've said it before, 100,000 miles of bumper to bumper warranty for $3000, amortization wise, is about 4 cents per mile which is cheap insurance.

Funny thing, so many people think they need some sort of extended service or warranty plan.
1st. Companies offering extended warranties make a minimum of 50% profit and as much as 70%.
2nd. They all talk about what they will cover. What people need to know is what is excluded.
3rd. Buyers must follow manufacturer’s recommended service intervals. If you do your own service you must keep detailed records and receipts.
4th. Look at #3. When we take our vehicle in for service and the mechanic recommends certain maintenance or repairs be made and you don’t do them, that may cause your future claim to be denied. Because you didn‘t follow recommended repairs or maintenance.
5th. Remember, your new truck comes with a 3 yr, 36,000 mile warranty along with 5yr, 60,000 drive train warranty. So when you buy a 100,000 warranty , your not buying a 100,000 mile warranty. Plus you always have a deductible.

Dealers and warranty companies are very good at selling peace of mind. For every customer who says 1 claim paid for the cost of the warranty there are at least 4 people who never submit a claim. Doesn’t matter which warranty is sold by which company, the reason the try so hard to sell them is because the profit margins are huge.
Good luck with any way you decide to go.
This is an insurance policy that protects you again the possibility of a catastrophic repair bill. With the cost of repairs being as high as they are it could be a good bet. I've not bought a warranty for my RR but am considering it. The price of turbocharger replacement alone give me pause to consider buying a plan.

MOS, do you have any other insurance at all? If so, why?
no other , except the auto liability Ins required by state law .

once again , these maintenance policies are making big money on your emotions .
autos today are very reliable if maintained by the owners manual .

do what you may it’s your money

I don’t like them. No matter what they are on . The odds are that you will never come close to spending anywhere near the cost of the plan .
These plans are sold by companies that are in it to make money and they know that the odds are in the favor .
I hear you and would agree but with all the electronics in cars today and never any "wear and tear" just time for these to die, I went with it. The cost of repairs are so $$$ that a few thousand dollars is almost expected...

I can see why some dealers offer extended Powertrain warranties to their customers for free. Those ESP might cost the dealer $500. Take your truck in for an oil change. Anything the dealer notes while doing their free inspection will need to be fixed. If those things are not fixed they could void your warranty. Any oil seepage may require certain gaskets or seals to be replaced. There’s a reason so many companies are offering ESP these days. They do because they and dealers have done an excellent job of scaring consumers. I would never know someone for buying one, and I would never buy one.
The average person keeps a car about 8 years.

I think you can say the same thing about medical insurance, home owner insurance, car insurance, etc. It’s all a scam and my annual combined insurance bill just makes me ill.
However, you just never know what and when something big can happen so I get ripped off every year paying my insurance bills but I also know I am protecting my family from the big what if. I just don’t have the guts to take the risk so I gripe and moan and just do it.

I bought a 10 year/100,000 mile plan for my RR and I’m sure the insurance company is smiling ear to ear.

So I just purchased my Ranger on 1/26/26 and I turn down the dealers offer on the Service Plan because they wanted $3000 bucks. And I then went online and found this site .
www.Grangerfordextendedwarranty.com which had much better rates.

So I’m looking for any of you that have this plan for info , on if you like it or not . It seems a little good to be true. But I know very little about Buying an extended warranty for a truck .
So your two cents might be helpful I’m sure.
Here’s 2 pictures from the site .
And it does state that I can use my Ford pass rewards from the truck purchase to buy this , which is about $175 bucks .

I've been told to wait until your factory warranty is almost finished. Reason be is that the extended warranty you purchased starts from the time you purchase it not when the factory warranty expires

If I had not had the extended warranty on my 2019 Ranger when my transmission cratered at 32,000 miles I would have been out $6800.00 although it only had 32,000 miles on it I bought it in May of 2019 meaning it was past the 6 year mark. I'm glad I had it. Dropped it off and picked it up with no out of pocket.

That's only true to a point. Some of your services such as rental car coverage kick in immediately. So if your traveling and break down or need a car while yours is in the shop, your esp is helping you from the get go, as normal warranty does not cover rental car expense. Further Ford esp also covers trip interruption expense to a certain amount.

Ford Protect PremiumCARE coverage is there when you need it with 24-hour Roadside Assistance. Includes tire change, lockout, out-of-fuel and battery jump-start assistance Towing Assistance (up to $100 per occurrence)  Emergency Travel Expense (up to $1,000 within the first 5 days per occurrence) Destination Assistance (up to $75)

Rental vehicle benefits.
Standard coverage includes $60 a day for up to 10 days for covered repairs. And you can a bit more up front to have the daily rental rate increased so you can get a better rental vehicle.

So there are some benefits to buying one now, especially if you travel a lot.

Granger Ford and a couple others(Flood esp, Zoeller Ford, etc) truly offer the best pricing at $25 over dealer cost. Premium care is the only plan to buy unless you have a Ltd/base optioned vehicle such as a xl model, as it covers over 1000 components.

Rental car enhancement and light coverage are smart adds. The base $60 rental coverage often won't cover a similar vehicle to what your driving, which can be killer on a trip. Also first day rental is a must. Without it you do not get a rental car unless your vehicle is in the shop 2 or more days. Especially on a trip, not having a vehicle immediately can be killer.

Also, without light coverage your headlamps, tail lamps etc are not covered. As many models now have encased led light assemblies abd no longer have bulbs to replace the cost of replacing the light assembly can be very expensive. A tail lamp assembly on a ranger raptor is well over $2000 installed, as example.

I always add the rental car and light coverage enhancements to mine.

We haf a Ford dealership in my family for over 95 yrs so I grew up in and around the business. After mkt warranties are not worth the paper they are printed on, but factory backed warranties can be if bought at a decent price like grainger and a few others offer. Usually dealers mark these up upwards of several thousands dollars, that makes them cost prohibitive, but at a good price, they can be life savers long term.

This forum has received several extended warranty emails from "Zach" at Granger Ford. I had a question about a two-year full extended warranty regarding does it kick in after the 3-year warranty expires. Emailed Zach. Never responded to me. Went to the Granger dealer website. No employee named Zach I could find. Found several employees in Internet sales but not one of them listed as handling online extended warranties. I want to talk to someone before doing the online credit card into the Ethernet. Maybe someone here has bought their extended warranty from Granger. Seems to be some on the F150 forum. But you can try this. Print off Granger's pricing. Go to your Ford dealer, tell them what you want, and ask them to match Granger. If not, say adios, then call Granger and ask for Zach.
Services such as rental car, trip interruption reimbursement, towing service, etc kick in immediately. Component/part coverage kicks in after your factory warranty expires, as they are all ready covered. This is why buying an esp under warranty is way cheaper than buying one after your factory warranty has expired.

Completely bogus in today's world. With dealers selling Ford backed esps at $25 over cost, often times just one repair bill can be more than you pay for the esp, especially if a rental car or travel reimbursement comes in to play.

This is an old and outdated thought about esps. With part and labor prices today your actually not very wise not to have an esp. Wait until the apim goes out, the module running all of your electronics including ford sync, radio, climate control, etc, it can be thousands and thousands. Engine or transmission issues can be $4000+.

For the first 36 months you're covered by factory warranty, after that, you're on your own. That is usually when car owners begin looking at Extended Warranties or Plans to cover unexpected oop's. Ford's extended warranties, called Ford Protect Extended Service Plan, can be purchased after the 36 months runs out, which is what I decided to do when I bought our Ranger, no sense on paying double coverage the first 36 months.
From Granger site: If your Ford is within 41 months of its warranty start date (the date the vehicle was delivered to its original owner) and has less than 41,000 miles, you can purchase a plan.
If outside of your 3 yr or 36000 mile factory warranty the pricing goes up exponentially. Ford considers them used car plans or out of warranty plans at that tine, abd the price reflects this. And you miss out on rental coverage, tow coverage, travel interruption reimbursement that apply from day 1.

If you're going to wait, I tell people to wait the first year or under 12000 miles, whichever comes first, as there is only a $100 upcharge at that point to purchase a Ford esp, since you are still well within the factory warranty at this point. If you buy one after the first year or 12000 miles the warranty prices begin to increase.

So you can wait up to almost a year and just under 12k miles to purchase one, with only a $100 penalty gor doing so and this gives you time to see if you like and will be keeping the car you purchase. But again, you miss out on tow coverage, rental coverage, trip reimbursement, etc during thst period of time you don't have an esp.

It is a personal preference as to which route you take, but you do have options.
