Method wheels with push through center caps

Not the type of guy to post pictures of my dirty RR with the new Method wheels but would like to share my experience and learnings.

First truck and first time with push through center caps.

The dealer had issues installing the wheels using only the method spline lugs. Front was still vibrating after 2-3 tries.

We ditch the center caps and put 108 to 93.1 hub centric rings. No vibration, all is good but it looks like sh**.

I bought 106mm to 93.1mm and it fits like a glove inside the center cap lip.

So I learned that when having this type of wheels and caps, you want the OD size of the ring to fit the cap, not the wheel.

Had to remove and redo all 4s .

Hope it can help someone who, like me, didn't know.

Might do a thread with pics when I completely upgrade the B&O sound system. As winter does not want to fade away, I'm building my harness, adapters, amp rack, etc...

Which Method wheel? It would be great to see how the rings fit inside the caps.

i was wondering about that stuff. i have looked at a lot of wheels but not a bunch come with our bore spacing. i assumed everyone was running hub rings but no one ever mentioned them in their pics.

I wished I had done more research.

Was on the verge between the 703s and the 305s. The 703 can use centric rings easily fom my understanding. Because the cap is snapped on the top of the wheel.

I've read many forums (Toyota Tundras, Tacos, 4Rs) and a lot of people were having the exact issue with push-thru caps.

As Method are pretty much all 108mm and mid size trucks are under 100, there is a good gap. Some has no issues with only lugs but it seems tricky to get it right.

Not sure if push-thru cap are all 106mm inside though. Just saying that someone should get the wheels and caps first, measure with a caliper, or bring the cap to a auto part store to get the OD that sits perfectly in the cap.

I think you're right; I have 703's with the rings and have no issues with the center caps (either the original Method caps or the Ford Performance ones). I got lucky I suppose because I didn't realize that all Methods aren't designed the same way.

WOW, timely thread. Just had my 305s installed this weekend, and the 108 to 93.1 rings I bought didn't fit. There's a tiny bit of vibration at highway speeds, glad to see there is a ring that fits.

To be clear, did you get the 106 or 106.1 ring?

106! No issues at all, no vibrations now and looks great.

There should be no long term issues with the ring inside the cap versus the wheel bore? I know it's not really a "structural" piece, and once the wheel is tightened it's not even a weight bearing piece, correct?

Exactly. Rings are only there to align when tightening.

Method wheels are usually lug centering but it's not always easy to be perfect.

When tight, the bond between the face of the wheel and the hub is the structural part.

With the hub ring sitting inside the center cap lip like that, does the wheel sit flush against the hub? It doesn't create a "spacer" effect, does it?

Thank you for posting this, rand into the same issue with my Volks, different out diameter but used your size change and ordered what will hopefully work for it.

Cheapo place in Canada, they had multiple sizes on the shelf.
